r u going to use rubbermaids? if not whats the plan? man i wish you woulda went with a plywood sump/fuge like serdar has. i think ill be incorporating one into my system and would love to see a step by step build of one lol

Yes I will be using the Rubbermaid Poly tanks... I will be using 2x 150gal (sump and ref). And one 50gal (frag) on the system and I will have a 100gal and 150gal that I will be using for misc things... I had thought about using the plywood tanks like Phishy used but you can't beat the price of the poly tank and less work involved and will work for what I need...

yeah the poly tanks are awesome and usefull in most applications. but for me im looking for somthing with alot of surface area and a large amount of water volume so ill have to build a plywood tank. im sure the polys will be incorporated though.
how long are you figuring until you actually have livstock in the tank?

If you want alot of surface you could get a few 300gal poly tanks and plumb them together...

I was hoping to have the water flowing thought the system already, but I only have the display filled... No leaks :) I am pretty much done helping my cousin move but now I am back working... I don't really have too much more to do, just finding the time to do it...

Hey Shawn, I am up and running!! I am so psyched! Got salt in and temp. is holding well. Everything is running smoothly and hope it goes as well for you. :D

No major updates at this time :( I have been working alot... Like tonite... I was called in so i am here from 8:30pm until 8:30am... When I get home in the morning I am going to take a nap and then try to get some things done...

My biggest hold up right now is my computer rack that houses my four main servers as well as all of my network equ that sits on the wall (behind the fish tank) where the sump and ref are going to go... I will be moving it up stairs into my office but it will take myself as well as another since the rack is not lite and the quad xeon server and dual 800 are prob close to 200 lbs each... I have a friend coming over tomorrow for something else and I am going to see if he will be able to help me get it all up stairs... Once rack and computer equ is out of the way I should be good to go on getting the sump and ref in place and the plumbing finished...

jjj1100, I don't have any new pics at this time, nothing has really changed other then adding water to the display tank... I have been working alot as well as trying to stay up on things around the house that needs to be done... I did get the computer rack moved and out of the way...

Hey Shawn....80% full.

Very cloudy tho.....

Hows it going with yours?

Gratz on the sand and water :) I am trying to get info on "self leveling cement" as I want to build a 2" base for a few things in the fish room since the basement has imperfections... I wanted to lay down some 6mil plastic then pour the cement so that I don't mess up the basement floor and it could be removed at a later date if needed....

it should be pretty easy, I would plan on leaving the frame around it because the stuff I have worked with can be brittle on an abrubt edge, so you might take some chunks out of it if you were to drop something heavy on the corner of it. Leaving the wood would help to protect the corner, and if the wood got wet and ruined, oh well, at least this way you would not have to worry about a stand rotting out and falling apart. There might be some cement out there that would not have this issue. Just my .02 hope it helps.

I found this stuff but a diff brand at HD...

I am planning on making 4 bases...

2x 39"x58" = one for each 150gal tub (sump and ref)...
1x 25"x24" = sink
1x 30"x24" = skimmer

The above adds up to about 42 sq ft...

Each bag does about 50sq ft at 1/8" so if I wanted a 1/2" base I would need like 4 bags, maybe I could get 3 bags and make each one a little less then 1/2" in thickness...

Does this sound right ??

I have been wanting to weight my BK400 for sometime now...

Cup only :

Rest of the BK400 without the cup :

BK400%20body%20wt.JPG

Total BK400 :

The total seems to be a little off but then again the full skimmer would not fit on the scale...
