6255 vibration

I have 2x 6105. I have it driven by 7095, cycling each all the way to maximum power. I don't hear them once I close the cabinet doors

I just bought and installed a new 6255.
Even at 50% power (per 7095) there is a low rumbling noise correlating to when it is driven to the higher power (50% setting).

I know the 6255 drives a lot more water, and maybe this vibration noise is expected. Anyone experience the same thing? If this is normal any tips on minimizing the noise (besides turning down the power).

TIA!

The 6255 has a much stronger magnet field, this causes the magnet to pull down much harder and transmit more vibration, their is also more vibration due to the much bigger propeller. The short answer is it will always be noisier than the 6105, however these few things can greatly help.

1) Position the pump away from a corner, corners echo the noise more so than a centered position on a wall, they also restrict the intake depending on proximity and that also increases noise. Any hard surface to surface contact will increase noise, you may find that even the cord against glass or trim can carry noise so it is worth checking if the noise is reduced by lifting the cord.

2) For added rigidity they add a fifth rubber foot to the middle of the clamp, removing this reduces noise, but it weakens the hold so a sharper pump angle won't be possible. An alternative mount is to take small plastic pegs and push them into the holes in the 4 rubber feet on the clamps to lock them in place, lengths of rigid airline tube or left over stubs from the little plastic frames model parts come on would work well (this was plan A for increasing the rigidity for the 6255 but the added parts and instructions were deemed "overcomplicated" so we went with the 5th foot)

3) Just letting it run will also reduce noise, the pumps always quiet down quite a bit in the first 2 weeks, and generally reach the optimum after 2 months.

Thanks for the tip Roger.

Actually the noise has pretty much gone (was there before I went to work, when I got back home there was no noise). While there is no noise, there is huge flow, and that's just the way I love it!
