700g in the mix-

I feel Ich to be like goosebumps-reaction to a cause-not so much a disease. When stressed, tangs will suffer from it- it is always with them IMO but not always affecting them. I add kent zoe to my food once a week and I think it has helped my fish contend with diseases besides clean water also. It is key that the fish eat in the first couple to 3 days after going in so the immune system can get built up-then your good to go most times.

Acanthrus are very sensitive fish compared to the other tangs-they need to feel safe with lots of flow, good hiding places, and lots of room . Offering different types of food is important to see what they like till they get used to everything- getting them small helps IMO also-

bullitr- Thank you, but I am always humbled by alot of the other tanks on RC and just consider mine a work in progress. Saying that, I do like the challenges of a larger system and am enjoying watching this one take shape-

i think everyone agree all of our tank are work in progress

I also found that to be true, Joe. When I put my PBT in my last tank, he was healthy as could be. My yellow tang started picking on him, then the PBT suddenly got ich, with bumps EVERYWHERE. I took the PBT out, and put him in his own tang for a couple weeks, and the bumps went away within a day. It does seem like something that is always present.

Very interesting way to view Ich, as I never thought of it that way. Thanks for the info. Will try lots of flow and pristine water conditions in my next tank which will be an sps tank. Thanks again and happy reefing.

how is that you don't have coraline algae everywhere? my tank is covered, and i pretty much gave up trying to fight it.

Not sure Aaron-I've tried increasing mag and strontium-added another calc reactor and still nothing-lol-just not meant to be for this tank I guess but the corals are growing and the Gigas isn't getting smaller-

how about some oldie but goodie pics:)

Very nice Joe. Is the circus circus back in the 700?

I really like the new growth, but its hard to capture the pink rim that fades into purple

Yeah it's back in Mark - I had a ballast go down on the frag tank so I pulled it cus it was browning out but I found a good spot for it in the display so I think it will be staying awhile- yep it's hard to get a true photo of it for sure-
