5 bulkheads are for:
1. Backup standpipe
2. Chilled water return to tank
3. Return pump
4. Skimmer supply
5. Durso

And here are some videos of the tank in it's current state over the last few months. Not much more happening currently but will start adding more corals now that 99% of my fish are in.

1. General run around

2. Feeding

3. Solatubes only

Started tidying up the brain room last week.

Have a few things to do in the coming weeks like putting my calc reactor on, tidying electrical further and adding my ozone unit. Other than that, time to sit back and relax!

awsome tank. looks great. I wish i had enough sun in new york to use those tubes. Do you know what kind of par they put out?

+1 I'm very interested in this also... Your sps look like they are doing very well. Do you know how those tubes are with deeper tanks 30-40"?

Haven't tested during summer yet however they are likened to 1000w MH's.

The deepest I have seen them on a tank is 30" these were with 400mm solatubes. Everything was growing well.

What size tubes are they or did I miss that info? Looking awesome...

250mm

what an awesome tank!!!

congrats!!

love it! ;)

Thankyou, alot of time and effort has been put into it!

Wow!! That is a great system and the design is incredible. It looks like you killed a lot of brain cells coming up with your plumbing and system design. It is one of the cleaner builds I have seen here. I am VERY impressed!! I love the solar tubes! There was that "Gone Solar in California" thread here some time back which got me interested in them. I wish I could have used them but my tank is under the second story and there would be no good way of taking advantage of them in my tank. According to the other thread, you can get some rediculous PAR levels with those tubes. You definately did it right with your tank setup!! Hats off to you! Keep the pics coming!

That skimmer is pretty cool too! I am running a Barr Aquatic Beckett skimmer but I like the fact that yours is recirculating! Is that a red dragon pump that drives the becketts? What are you using for flow into the skimmer?

Hi Slief,

The plumbing was pretty simple as I utilised the race track sump design (Starts where it ends) so no need for a complexity of PVC :wildone:

It isn't a red dragon pump, I may look to upgrade to one in the distant future, however it is a Laguna 11000 (not sure if they are available in the states).

The skimmer was built by one of our local guys here and it works a treat.

Nice Tank, I have a few questions if you do not mind. I am planning a 700-800 gal. & you have some great ideas here.

1. What size sola tubes are you using. I am sure the light in person is different than in a photograph, but do you wish that you had used a 4th tube, or is there pleanty of light?

2. Do you have any side views of the sump showing compartments & how the water enters the sump?

3. How do your panels come off the stand for maintenance?

4. How much is your chiller running?

5. I like the idea of using Vortecs to keep heat out of the water. By looking at the videos it looks like pleanty of water movement. Are you getting good movement at the bottom half of the tank?

6. What do you wish you would have done different?

Thanks

Andy
