Now I"m all confused argh :(... So I have to buy that 1/4" RO/DI Elbow... stick that through the rubbermaid container... silicone gaskets around it... then silicone everything?

that sounds like the plan;)

also I don't think silicon is good for gluing rocks together--that's why the epoxy--not hundred percent sure on this however

I also saw a sailfan tang in a tank with a foxface.... the sailfan tang seemed to be chasing the foxface and moving into it sideways... I thought perhaps it was fighting with the foxface(breathing hard) so I mentioned it to the store clerk and she said they were just playing. Is that true?

Sounds good... where can I pick up a gasket that will fit around such a small elbow like that?

make it from a bicycle repair kit

Its more like the Rollings Stones song
Hey Hey get off of my cloud:D
There is harmony in my tank

Well I spent ALL day toying with things... 2 rock shipments... set up the sump... will have to fix the epoxy on it... got both overflows in shape... but my protein skimmer's output is too high off of the water and shoots out like a hose... so I'm going to have to find a pvc elbow and make it go down into the skimmer section... other than that pictures will come soon!

Rocks I have now... live rock pieces are 3 off to the left.

That is about 70 pounds... will get another 60 or so.

How long does it take for live rock to seed the dead rock? Obviously not in a rush, but I don't know. I also have some dark purple, white, and red looking colors on the dried out rock... will this grow back in time at all? I think it's coraline. The live rock looks like it may even have some macroalgae starting to grow... It has coraline spots... will take more pics tomorrow.

15 pounds of rubble rock from Macro. I will epoxy these together to make an interesting spiral pillar. I'll also use some in the refuge to help with the copepod propagation.

When can I add chaeto and copepods.... after the cycle or during the cycle? I am guessing after the cycle for the copepods but what about chaeto?

I like you idea about putting together a spiral. I don't know but isn't ammonia bad for plants too?

Love the aquascape! It's very "natural"! LOL

I got electrocuted today.......... not fun.... yes I have a GFI.... was working on sump and foam from the skimmer got into my portable light when I was tweaking things.... was holding a prefilter sponge and it was stuck to my hand shaking.... right hand was fine (rubber pvc glove) arghhhhhhhhhh!

I spent the whole day doing aquascaping......... for nothing... it all fell apart (the epoxy hold)... what gives?? It held fine the other day. What a frustration ugg

The epoxy I use take a bit to actually get the strength to hold anything. But for the most part I only use it to reenforce the unstable looking rock work. I haven't actually epoxied any crazy configuration. I think you would have to drill and or zip tie to help hold it

What kind of drill bit do I need so I can try the zip tie idea? Holes near the sides or middle? Ill attach small groups.

Well I got the carbide drill bit and lots of zip ties... worked MUCH better than epoxy... also got some tubing and made a pillar.... the rest of the rock should come tommorow so I can finish aquascaping over the weekend. Will post pictures soon.

It can take up to three months to fully cycle base rock. As long as you have a good per centage of live rock to base rock your tank will still cycle and you will be able to add a cuc and coral
I would be very cautious however in adding bigger bioloads such as fish
It is possible for the corraline to come back--make sure you run your lights 3 hours a day while cycling

you can add the chaeto during the cycle and the copodpods will develop on their own as long as you don't get a huge spike in ammonia.
some do a water change at the point to preserve hitchhikers
