The picture above is the new tank (originally used for freshwater). From the second I first saw this setup I was lured by the custom stand and canopy.

Here is what the tank first looked like once I got it stocked with sand and liverock.

Note: You will see that in this picture I have filtration. When I first started the tank I used a Fluval FX5 to help clean. Over time I found that with the amount of macro algae in the aquarium, it became difficult to grow my plants due to insufficient nutrients for them to thrive. So I ultimately removed the filter and replaced it with a couple powerheads for water flow.

From that point on, I slowly removed macro algae from my 40 gallon tank and added them to the 75 gallon while the tank cycled.

and Some More..

and Some More..

Added some more plants... Moved some around... and then a few Gorgonians were added...

Still no seahorses.

This picture was at about the 45 day mark. Starting to look real nice.

This was the point where my macros began to suffer because there was not enough nutrients to allow them all to thrive. Shortly after this photo, my filter was removed and it was up to the macro algae (tank & refugium) to keep the clean at this point.

Finally!! The Ponies!!

Finally!! The Ponies!!

Right around the 2 month mark, I finally was confident enough to finally move the seahorses to the new tank along with a large portion of my Gorgonians and Macro Algae from my other tank.

Wow thats incredible!

Im curious if you have to dose anything in a Macro/Gorg/Horse tank- is it neccesary beyond water change nutrient supplements?

Great looking tank, I have had macro tank and seahorses before we relocated, but noting like this tank. You did a great job.

Closer Pictures!

Closer Pictures!

The top picture was taken during the daytime when all 3 lights are turned on. I run the combined lighting for about 8 hours. At the 8 hour mark the full spectrum LEDS turn off while the other lights remain on for another 4 hours.

The bottom picture was taken during the evening after the Full Spectrum lights turned off.
