9002 skimmer stopped

Hello Roger,

I noticed that my 9002 has stopped working recently.
I bought it around 2.5 years ago.

Havent opened it up to inspect anything yet. Not sure where to start.

My understanding is that it has the newer 1073.008 pump.
Not the older model 0800.040.

I am wondering if the older model pump will still work.
They were listed at discount price online here in .au
That is assuming they are in stock.

Otherwise, just regular 1073.008 and remove cover?

Finally, any hints on reviving existing model, or does they just wear out?

If you have never opened it for service in 2.5 years, it is long overdue. With any luck it can just be cleaned and put back to use but that is somewhat of an extreme neglect scenario. At least every year it should be fully disassembled and cleaned and ideally every 6 months. There is a chance the pump has burned out if it was jammed for sometime. You will need to open the skimmer up, clean the pump and air nozzle as shown in the manual. I would test run the pump in just a bucket this way you can verify if the pump alone works or not and from there if the pump works, and the skimmer still doesn't perform we would know it is the nozzle or airline that is jammed. If the pump does not work after cleaning, you will want to get the same model pump as your skimmer has and it will have the model number printed on it.
