A Capital Dream - 400g SPS build

A blue face angel will definitely destroy a reef tank. I have seen one emperor in a tank but never two. If you really want to go for big aggressive fish like this you might want to save a lot of money and leave the corals out.

I have been doing a lot of research on the larger angels and it seems there are some that are well behaved in a SPS only tank. My tank is all SPS, and there will be no LPS, clams or zoas. I have a separate 75g for those corals. I will continue my research and see if there is another I can add.

I will only have one emperor, but I believe locito is considering two for his 750g.

You might want to consider a navarchus angel. They don't get so big and are safe with most corals, though not tunicates or sponges.

I'm doing SPS only as well and as much as I would like the blue face I would likely have to pass as I'm definitely planning the emperor couple. I would be adding them young as well.

I too am going to pass on the blue face. I am glad @dave.m pointed me to the Majestic. I will talk to my LFS and get them to keep an eye for one.

********* has one. Love the pyramids!! You were on point!

I know where you are referring to. Pyramids are awesome butterflies. Always out and about and as reef safe as they come. I am glad you were able to get your hands on a couple.

It's been 24hrs since you dumped the first dose of Vibrant into the tank. Is the green stuff gone yet :jester:

Lol. Not yet. [emoji3] But I still have high hopes. I may pull some of the gha. At least give Vibrant a fighting chance against the bryopsis.

I hope it works. Sure would be a game changer for many people.
I am optomistic, with reservation. I too want to see it work because, as you say, it would be a game changer. When I dosed yesterday, I had one SPS exude a lot of mucous. I think it may have been in direct line of the flow when I dosed. It looks good today, so I am not too worried about it. I also noticed a significant reduction in one of my bryopsis colonies that would have been in that same flow. The leaves have basically curled up. I am reluctant to say there is a correlation because of the single dose in such a large tank. I will continue to monitor parameters and take pictures where thwre is a significant change.

Hey Ward, any update on how the Vibrant is working out?
It has wiped out the hair algae. I have dosed 3 times and am seeing some lightening of colour in the bryopsis. I have tuft algae on 2 of the rocks and I am getting some whitening on the tips of it.
How's the algae holding up against the vibrant? Decided on the emperor?

I am still not decided on the emperor. They are such a beautiful fish that I he may just be worth the risk.

Good to hear about the HA. I was thinking that when we met at MS the other day, you had said something about the Bryopsis falling off the rock.

Gawd, I hate getting old. Yet another senior moment. :(
