A Few of my SPS

Nick, I was just thinking about the Siporax and silicates. Would there be a reason that Siporax (being sintered glass) would be more likely to leech silicates than the float glass your tank is made of?

Haha good luck! If you want CUC to deal with diatoms though, don't buy Nassarius. ;)

I thought of the Nassarius cause the diatoms are only on the sand. I am hoping that these snails will help by stirring it up.

On the way to glory again nick buddy:beer:
Awesome pics and i can't wait to see the fts.Corals look goooood:)

Thank you, Mike. Don't know about glory, just trying my best to keep afloat. :-)

I don't see one dino in that picture!!!! your corals on their worst day look 1000x better than my corals on their best day!!!! Keep up the great work Nick!!!!

Thank you, Steve. You need to update your thread!! Ever since you've been awarded with ROTM, you've disappeared. Now that you have success, don't forget about us little hobbyists. ;-)

Corals look stunning! Didnt expect any less from you though.

With regards to Siporax; all my friends in the UK use them and there is a long thread which started off from my tank thread; no one else has reported issues with Dinos or Diatoms as far as I know.

What are you feeding the corals and fish on a daily basis?

Thank you, Sahin. I don't feed my corals anything. Fishes - Weekdays, I feed them once a day. Weekends, twice a day. Foods are all frozen: mysis, brine, spirulina, plankton and blood worms. I rinse everything before I feed.

I'm sorry, Mindy. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your question. :-( But rest assure, I will overcome this battle!

Well, Nick, I don't see much of a diatom issue.. I have to say..
I do see incredibly coloured corals..
Fts would certainly be nice! :)
There is a blue coral below the PC superman - out of focus..
Looks like a nice deep water..

Missed your question, Matt. It's a solitaryensis. It has lost color since I reaquascaped.

Nick based on the few shots you have posted, I'd say it's only a matter of time before this tank is as great as your last.. Diatoms are small potatoes. Don't loose sight of the forest for the trees..
Don't get too caught up with them, they may just disappear on their own..
Hope to hear a little more from you. :)

Agree with Matt, the diatoms will disappear over time.

Nick, which brand and type of plankton are you feeding? Is it Zooplankton or phyto?

Thank you for the comforting words, Matt. I won't loose sight as this is 1 of the characteristic that I love about our hobby, troubleshooting.

This is the Plankton that I feed...

Those acros look extremely yummy Nick, very healthy looking frags mate :) I like the second one a whole lot.........

Tried some plankton but only the bigger fish would eat it, the anthias wouldn't touch the stuff so i stick with lots of mysis instead. High protein foods make good poo for acros imo.

Thank you, Andrew. It's nothing compare to all those awesome colonies that you have.

I've noticed the same eating behavior once the anthias are first introduce to my tank. But, just like all animals...when they are hungry they will eat anything. Perhaps, you are spoiling your anthias to much.

Here's a current FTS. I am going to wait and let things grow. I may redo the rock again. :-(

Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

Looking really good, Nick!!
What's the first shot?
Is that a purple dragon eyes?
I love it.
Second, Oregon tort?
That scape will do very nicely for giving the acros lots of space to get big and natural.
Looks great so far.

Nick don't change a single thing in the aquascape,it looks amazing buddy:inlove:
Corals looking good too! They have so nice colors:beer:

Fantastic pictures! Stunning coral. Such nice colors. I really like the bright pink one. What is it?

Bought it as an unknown bugger. I'm going to go with the current trend....Stonecold Pink Power. :-)

Your correct, Matt. It's a purple dragon eyes and Oregon Tort.

Everything must come to an end. So, I'm going to close this "chapter" as I'm in the process of shutting down the tank.

I sincerely thank all the hobbyists that have followed and support this thread. I will be back soon.

Best wishes to everyone and happy reefing! :wavehand:

Sorry to see this one being taken down. I love the scape and was looking forward to this tank rivaling your last one. Best of luck

Came here to bump the thread...going to miss your tank and coral photos. Look forward to the next build.
