A few of my SPS

It's been a rough few weeks for my reef - Not sure why but while I was on vacation I lost 11 colonies including my Red Dragon, Strawberry Shortcake & Plana just to name a few. :sad2: There is also some bleaching that happened to several others that I am hoping will make it through this rough patch.

Oh Greg, that's terrible, man! I wonder what could have happened while you were gone? On my honeymoon 24 years ago the stupid twit that was supposed to be taking care of my reef basically ignored it, and when I got back, all my fish were dead and the return pump had run dry and burned out:angryfire: I don't think I'll be able to leave my reef in someone else's hands easily again.

wow that really sucks... what happend?

one of my buddys here went away for 3 days and came back to a tank with all the Acros dead and most of the fish...

the glass cleaning magnet thing broke and the metall inside startet to rod away... with the heavy metalls in the tank everything died... :headwally:

hope the rest will make it!!

Good luck

Wow Greg,
I love the new set of photos, the lavendar and pink acro is killer, but that Stylo, it glows something nuclear :) That blue milli, Palmers? Anyway, that is one sweet coral too, of course all of your corals are brilliant! That video shows exactly how huge that RP is, what a heck of a coral, simply amazing! Thanks for the update :)

Really sad to read that greg:(
Hope it will stop there and not lose any more corals.
Hope too you'll figure out what happened.
Hang in there and keep your head up bud!

Wow Greg, you've had a lot of strife in the last year or so. Too much vacation and not enough tank time! ;)

Oh dang Greg, I missed that post, I was too busy on the page before, where your video was posted, these photos and the video must have been prior to vacation. Sorry to hear about this Greg, I am going on vacation in September for a week, and I am nervous as heck... Sorry you lost those colonies, hopefully you had them backed up with fellow reefers in your area. Did you isolate the issue on what happened? Best of luck, you have been at this a long time, I am sure this is not your 1st go at this type of issue, and I am quite certain your tank will rebound in no time at all. Cheers!

I had a buddy checking on things every few days and if is a fellow reefer but it had nothing to with him. There were a few pieces that were looking bad before I left so I expected to loose them.

When I go away I always expect to suffer some losses and when don't I consider it a bonus.

Thanks Perry. That stylo is a beauty for sure. The blue "mille" was grown from an insurance frag from a wild piece I got back in 2012 from a Java order and they said it was A.hyacinthus but it is rather "mille-ish /prostrata-ish" and as long as it keeps growing and stays colored up I am ok. this is the 3rd time I have grown that piece from a frag back to a colony. Yeah the Red Planet is getting out of hand and no pun intended but I just fragged a piece off it about the size of my hand and you can hardly tell.

Really sad to read that greg:(

Thanks Mike - I am up to about 15 colonies lost now and I am having a hard time staying enthused - I haven't even cleaned the glass since I got back on July 19.
Sorry for your loss.:(
Thanks

Yep it's always something but I need my vacation time or I will go crazy:crazy1:.
Clearly, no more vay cay for you :)
Darryl - it would seem that way but holiday time is a big priority for me - My tank is mostly there to help keep me sane during my scuba diving extended surface intervals.:D

That blows...
Hope you get ontop of the issues.
Thanks

Not sure the exact cause but it is likely caused by my own neglect from just being too busy with life & work.

Sorry to hear Greg.
You've had your share, lately..
Good luck with the turnaround.
Thanks Matt - I won't argue that.

So so so sorry to read that greg:(
Losing corals is frustrating enough on it's own but not knowing the reason is even worse.
But if there are some people who can bounce back fast, you are amongst them 100% bud:beer:
I can't wait to see you turn things around!
