A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

Steve, where did you get those tanks? Ive searched all the Tractor Supply stores, and other like stores around town, and they just have the sprayer ones, that people use for mobile wash, and pesticide tanks on tractors. Im looking for the tall ones like yours...

Tankdepot.com carries all different brands, shapes and sizes. I bought these tanks off of a guy in savannah that was getting out of the hobby. The tanks I had for my last system came from tankdepot.com. Shipping should be good for you as I think they have a facility in Texas.

The fish room is done!

The fish room is done!

Im finally done with building the fish room. I finished it with two coats of Kilz and one coat of this....

I really like the way this dried and the appearance it gives. Tomorrow I will break thru the cinder block to make opening for the lines from the tank and will hopefully have the pvc lines thru the floor and tie the tank in. My sumps arrive on Monday and hopefully we can have some water running in 2 weeks!

Need an experienced hobbyist near us here in Chicago area not just in SC. Great Job Steve. looking good as usual

Great start to a great fish room.

Room looks good Steve. Approximately 14 days and counting before splash off.

Great job. I like that finish. The epoxy looks like a great choice for your final coat.

Thanks Guys! Its definitely nice to see some progress moving along.

So drilling thru the foundation didn't go as well as expected or as I had hoped for yesterday. I only got one hole completely drilled and then another one partially. The drill I was using was old and was losing power.

My fiberglass tanks arrived tonight......

I had added additional support under the tank in the crawl space a couple of months ago and never posted a picture of that....

I am a building contractor that had my own framing crews for 20 years...that a nice job supporting the floor. Oh and your build is super nice too:) like the tubs!

Just received my three close loop pumps(2 2 use 1 back up), after going back and fourth went with Darts. About three weeks away from fresh water run myself. Looking forward to seeing the different Flowwolf setup's:)

Love the tanks and the floor support looks outstanding! Those concrete pieces are perfect.

Were the tanks expensive? They would be bad *** frag tanks!

Thanks for the kind words Mace!! I am dry fitting my closed loop now and hope to start glueing everything over the weekend.

Cant wait to see the Flowwolf's in action!

Thanks Mark! I got the tanks from pentairaes.com and as far as price goes...
They really werent that bad. They have all different sizes on the site. I may use the smaller one as a fuge, frag tank or a qt tank...not sure yet. Best part was shipping was free!

Sunday morning update....

Sunday morning update....

I made a lot of progress this week. Getting thru the cinder block was a lot harder than I thought it would since it was filled with cement. After trying to do it with a hammer drill, mason bits and a chisel...I decided to call a tool rental place and this is what they suggested.....

A 25 lb Bosch chipping hammer

It took me about 3 hours to get to this point with a regular hammer drill

And it only took me 10 minutes with the Bosch to do this.....

What an amazing tool that was and worth the $55 for the rental fee!

I was able to run the pvc lines under the house....all 150ft of it.

I then moved on to plumbing both of my closed loops. I need to make some adjustments to one of them. I used a piece of flex on the outlet that leads to the ball valve and the weight was too much so its leaning now and looks messy.

Finally I drilled the holes in the floor and have a friend coming over today to help me make the connections.
