A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

Looks like I'm back on track. The builders structural engineers examined the garage floor on Friday and said that it was fine. I didn't feel comfortable with his answer so I consulted with 3 different engineers today and they all had the same opinion. The builder let me know that the garage floor falls under the structural warranty which is good for 10 yrs.

Now for the electrical issues....electrician came out Friday as well and after some crawling around under my house and digging thru my panel they will be able to give me a 20a and 15a breaker under the tank and two 15a breakers in the garage. This should be more than enough. So fish room construction begins on the 21st and hopefully by the end of June I'll have all of the plumbing done and some rodi flowing!

Sounds great Steve.:bounce1::bounce1::bounce1:

Great news! You should be in great shape from an electrical standpoint too.

Plenty of amps for your reef... Steve are you planning on having an APEX system to control the tank multi functional items. I love my APEX and it tells me how many amps are utilized as lights pumps CR etc go on/off. Glad things worked out with the elc and the slab. Now back to the fun & hard labor ..

Nice! I'm glad the issues got resolved without too much headache.

thanks guys! confirmed today that the guys will show up on the 21st to start the fish room. I have all of the fittings I need to start plumbing the closed loop systems so I can start on that when we get back from vacation.

No worries :lolspin: I have heard the same thing about white egg crate leaching po4.

I got killed bringing this up on NJRC, was that a mistake...

Someone mentioned that there could be releasing agents that could be the reason as well...

Looking forward to the construction...

A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

FedEx Thursday......I decided to upgrade my rodi from the BRS system to an Aquafx Octopus system. 200gpd, 1:1 rejection , chloramine buster, auto flush, dual resin, booster pump....pretty impressed with how it's all put together.

Thats nice Steve...I upgraded mine too. I got mine from air water and ice, and got the 200gpd unit they sale. I didn't want to wait weeks on end for the initial fill :)

Thanks Tony. My town has high silicates so when I started looking at adding on my to my current rodi I decided to just sell and start over. I'm with you on the initial fill....I'm figuring it will take 3 days to get it done. I do have two 165g storage tanks that I will fill ahead of time to make it seem like it's going faster.

My system will total around 1100 gallons. even with the 200gpd unit, I'm looking at almost 6 days worth. My previous unit was a 50gpd unit. Oh man that would of taken a long time...

Fish Room Construction begins.....

Fish Room Construction begins.....

The fish room was supposed to start construction today but the guy I hired to do it bailed on me on wednesday so I after a little convincing from some friends, I decided to do it myself. I got started at 8:30 this morning and pretty happy with the progress I made today.

Had to stop because a storm was rolling in.....

Tomorrow I hope to finish sheathing, the roof, insulation and the door.
