A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

With a prediction of 8 to 10 inches of snow tonight, my wife asked me once again where in Florida my company has offices. Just one of these times she's going to mention moving to florida and Ill push for a transfer and put up the house for sale without any further discussion. If she's lucky I may give her a few days warning before the movers show up! :)

8-10" of snow sounds like fun and we wish we were back up there to enjoy it all"¦..just kidding! :celeb1:

We are having a short break from the snow here in Chicago from 16-18 inches of snow and -3F temp wind chill -20... Just cleaned the driveway for the umpteen time and getting ready for the next expected snow tomorrow Sat...

Oh man thats cold!!!!! its a chilly 35 degrees here today and everyone is scrambling for coats.

Bump.... hows the house and the tank coming along? Move in day has to be getting closer!

I wish Mike, I wish!!!! We've had a rash of issues with the builder ranging from the wrong style roof being built on the back porch, the granite yard releasing our slabs for the counter tops to the wrong people not once but twice and the project manager getting fired 2 weeks ago"¦not to mention the massive ice storm that literally had the area shut down for 3 days this week. So, we are about 6 weeks behind schedule and should hopefully close the end of March or early April.

As for the tank"¦.the deposit has been placed with James at Envision Acrylics and he is set to start building the tank towards the middle to the end of March. He will hold the tank in his shop until I am ready to take delivery. The tank will be 96x36x24 with solid black back and bottom. I'm starting to plan out the fish room for the garage now but not getting the hang of google sketch up so as another NJ reefer suggested to me offline"¦.I need to go get some graph paper, ruler and a pencil.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with the builder but April is right around corner. At least that is what I'm telling myself to make it through the winter.

Don't feel bad about sketch up. I've messed with it a few times and was never able to get the hang of it and this is coming from someone who taught myself to be slightly dangerous with AutoCAD. Nothing wrong with kick'n old skool with a little pen and paper.

Im sure the next few weeks will go by fast or I hope it will go by fast and before I know it, the tank will be sitting in my garage waiting to be set up.

Hope all goes well from here on with the contractors and April is around the corner. We are getting ten more inches of the white stuff in Chicago... What a crazy winter weather wise!!

Thanks Osama. This definitely has been a crazy winter all around. Good luck with the new snowfall!

I got a couple of pics from my friend in NJ who has been housing some of my favorite corals for me until I'm up and running so I thought I would share two of them. I was able to find pictures of what they looked like when I got them so you can see the growth.

Enjoy!

Hi Steve these will look great in your tank.. Soon I hope we will see them thriving in yours. I love anything pink/red/ that I can find.. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

Sad to say but not much. We've had several issues and delays with the construction of our home which has caused the completion to be pushed back until late March early April. Did make one change on the tank and I decided to go with two external overflows instead of the internals. All of the materials for the tank are in and James at Envision will start building the tank the 2nd week of March.

Very nice.

Make sure they take lots of pictures so you can update the thread AND have a documentation in-case something goes wrong.

I know a guy who had his overflows built externally to. That is going to give you lots of room to aquascape. I have to find out the reefer's name. :D:D:D
