A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

On the closed loop. I'll be hooking one up for sure tomorrow. Set up the reeflink and connected to ESL tonight. Really liking the programming possibilities so far!
 
I got one of the L1's hooked today and its amazing! The reeflink was a little quirky at first but I think we are in good shape now. The pump is dead silent and moving a lot of water! I put a digital thermometer on the Dolphin pump before taking it off and it read 100 degrees. The L1 has been running for an hour now and the thermometer reads 76 degrees. That will make a huge difference in my cabinet temperature! I checked the watts running it at 100% constant flow and the watts were 127 according to reeflink. I will hook up my watts meter later to compare. So far I am really impressed with it and will hopefully get the 2nd one hooked up tomorrow. Now to create some neat programs with ESL.
 
Awsome! Lets see some plumbing pictures. If i remember correctly you originally had problems with the dc pumps about the threads being cheaply made? Whats your take on the vectra?

I will get some pictures tonight of the plumbing. I never used the DC pumps for this application because I was concerned about the thickness of the threaded connections. I should have taken a picture of the Vectra next to one of the Jebao DC pumps I have and show you the difference. There is a significant difference in how the threads are made. The Vectra's are much thicker in my opinion.

As far as plumbing goes...I used their quick connect fitting for the drain/pump inlet and then bought their adapter to use on the outlet since my line was already 1.5" for the ocean motion 4 way. For the most part it all worked out well except for one little drip that I have on the 2nd pump. I originally thought it was coming from the volute seal but after staring at the pump for about 10 mins last night I can see its coming for the outlet thread. I have tightened it as far as it can go and still have a small drip. I will take it off over the weekend and wrap it again with Teflon. Im pretty sure I did two layers of Teflon on the first pump and only one on the 2nd. Otherwise, I am extremely happy and thinking about adding some other Ecotech products to my system.
 
That sounds good as i sit hear and listen to my hammerhead return pump buzz away. I really want use one for my main pump but just not sure if it would power everything. Like reactors and frag tank/refug

that one is a tough one to answer. I know when its on constant flow its moving a lot of water and if I remember correctly you don't have a huge distance for all of the water to travel with your system. Would you consider running two of them? one just for the return and one for everything else. Plumb one externally and the other one internally. You might be able to get away with using the M1's then.

That was my thought I already figured out how to do that with my current plumbing. I would use the l1 internally. That would help give me some heat in the system for the winter months. Have you considered then for your return or would you defiantly need a larger one?

My fishroom is 26 feet away from the tank and I feed my frag tank and live rock tank off of my return which is a Dolphin Amp Master 6250 so I don't think the L1 would be strong enough. I have 3 separate Jebao DC pumps that feed my chiller, skimmer and GFO Reactor that I might consider consolidating down to one pump. I have heard rumors that Ecotech is possibly going to release an S and XL model. I would definitely be interested in the XL for my return if they were to come out with it.
