A luxury problem.

I've got this Regal tang that frags corals.
Today he got three finger thick staghorns snapped.
His eyesight is excellent, but his eagerness is over the top.
He is the king of the tank and partols everything every few seconds.
I'm considering feeding a lot more, but it's not needed and I don't think he can control his greed for food.

Before I let this 8" (20cm) tang go I wonder if someone has an idea how to calm him down.

Mine does this too! Is always snapping off branches on my green slimmer.

I tried putting up small signs but he just gives me the fin and does it anyhow ..... Regal/Hippos just seem to get neurotic as they get older and bigger.

He's got more "problems" like splashing water out of the tank and air gulping after a meal, but I can't blame him for any of that since I'm the one keeping him out of the ocean.
After being without a mate for years there is no wonder fish get grumpy and show us the fin occasionally as they get older.

For a while he's on a strict all you can eat diet.
If it's a success I'll reply, if not it's a failure.

I have the same problem with my 12" French angel, who splashes water on me one out of three times during feeding. I get pretty tired of wiping my tank and the floor because he gets overzealous with food.

I have a big harlequin tusk that spits water through his blue teeth when I approach the tank. Really freaks out visiting kids. My indispensable helper & friend made a partial glass cover that usually blocks all of his water.

if you'd asked, i woulda told you little signs don't work. and don't ask me how i know this.

Two weeks have passed with about twice the amount of food.
I feed more often and there are no leftovers.

I have to report a success since there is a clear reduction in his eagerness for food.
It's like he's just returned from a therapy session.

He's also stopped "barking" at other fishes right before feeding.
He would chase other fish away and you could hear the sound clearly.

Increased feeding, could solve your fishes behavior problems so do give it a try.
Side effects could be a fish that is too big for your tank.
