ABC Reefs 1st Anniv/Frag Swap/Sale 11/14

Fragswapper is up.
http://fragswapper.com

If you plan to attend, please register so Tim and Dave have an idea of how many people to expect.

Cully,
Let me know if you need me to change anything. I put the time down for 12-4PM.

I registered for this event with FragSwapper.com via the Upstate Reef Society 'organization' though I am not a member of URS. Are/will there be any difficulties with this?

Thanks

Sure your a member. By posting in this forum, it makes you a member. This is it. This is URS. There's no dues. The meetings are optional.

So Welcome to the Upstate Reef Society.

Tim just figured out the first of the many specials he is planning for the swap. 160 gallon Bucket of Reef Crystals, $35. Trying to make it more appealing to make the drive. Hopefully get more people involved. I will post more as I find out. He is also working on the website and will be posting info on there as well. www.abcreefs.com

I was there last night, they've got some great stuff and he was getting another shipment of fish and mostly corals after hours. They've had a few things that have been around for a long time, for what ever reason. I know they will be marked for bargain basement prices.

Not much going on as far as people wanting to bring in and set up tanks. If you want to do it I'd urge you to get on it. Plus I think setting up early would be key so that corals especially zoos have a chance to open up for your prospective buyers/traders.

Canopy for plasma light is complete, just getting stained. Lookdown is plumbed and filled with water and running.

Lots going on, I urge you to stop in and get yourself set for the swap. It's been a looong time since I've seen a lot of you guys. It will be nice to get everyone together.

I agree I thought we would see some more pics of what people are bringing. Is everyone just holding back till the meet? Post up them pics everyone...

Side note, Cully I'm heading up there tomorrow afternoon to pick up some stuff. Looking forward to seeing the new tank....

I looked on fragswapper this morning, to see who is bringing frags and much to my surprise no one is listed. I must admit, that was a shock. I plan to visit the store next weekend to talk to Tim & Dave about coming with frags. I see Cali, all the way from Buff to boot, is in, anyone else (Cully - other locals?)? As for fragswapper, If time permits, I will take some pictures of the pieces I plan to bring. With time running out, pictures may not happen.

Regards,

--Rich

Not sure what the deal is. I think a lot of Syracuse Reef Keepers are pretty new to it. We haven't had access to really good stuff for more than a year. Most of my stuff is from Roch or mail. This is just speculation on my part.

If you have stuff to sell/swap lets show it. It's not worth it for me to frag stuff and bring it down when I live 2 minutes from there. I can bring people here and frag on demand. Better for the coral and the customer. When my lights come on, I'll show what I have to frag.

Some people showed up last year with some nice stuff, especially zoos, but I didn't buy any because none of them opened up. Also why I suggest people get set up early if at all possible.

Ditto what Cully said. I plan on buying because we don't have much selection in our area. I'm trying to help the cause and hopefully maybe by next year I'll be one of the people bringing frags ;)

Cali and Diverdick you have a pm coming..

Neoz,

I re: your pm.

Cully,

My only concern with fresh cut is that you take a newly cut specimen out if its habitat (water chemistry that it grew under) and force it into another system (with new/different conditions). This can be successful yet stressful on the specimen. I think healed/actively encrusting specimens are better for any system IMHO.

As for posting pictures, if time permits, I will get things onto fragswapper. Most likely not though. I will put together a list of what I may bring and post some time before the swap. I do have some FTS on my photo page listed on my details. Some pictures are fairly recent - 2- 3 months or so. Most of the parent colonies are there somewhere.

Kind regards,

--Rich

PS: PM me if you have other questions.

Yeah, many of us around here are looking to buy for future swaps where we can grow and make frags of our own. I wish there were more people around CNY that had frags ready to go.(Not that the ones that are around here are bad) I'm looking to setup a frag tank sooner or later. But for those coming from out of town there will be plenty. ABC Reefs has got some monster stuff and plans on having some fantastic deals. Looks to me like their Reef Crystal buckets are starting to pile high.

I hope your right and that ABC has that tank stocked full! I have to travel an hour one way every time I want a fish or a frag. But I do it without hesitation knowing I'm getting high Quality and great service! ABC just keeps getting better...

pfft!

You're twice as close as I am.

;)

We should car pool. Then I'd drive an hour, then you'd drive an hour, then you'd drive...well you get the picture.
