ABC Reefs 1st Anniv/Frag Swap/Sale 11/14

Does ABC have plenty of AC outlets for tanks/swappers?

They sure have a lot of them. It wasn't an issue last year. You might want to at least bring your own powerstrip. Traveling frag tanks are usually rudimentary and don't require much juice, but may require a few plug recepticles.

Give them a call if you think it'll be an issue.

Count me in. I plan on being a buyer, and winning Jeremy's raffle. Thank you to Tim and Dave for bringing a true reef shop to Syracuse. It was almost impossible to enjoy this hobby in Central New York before they opened their doors.

Saw the plasma light for the first time today. What the???

One tiny bulb about 7-10 mm in size, cranks out light at 250 watts, with adjustability between 10 and 14K. Rediculous. Supposed to compete with 400watt Halides. Bulbs last a few years and cover a wide area PLUS it gives the "Halide Shimmer".

I can't wait until its over the lookdown!! Just don't look up, you'll be seeing spots :hmm4:

Wow is right. Were did ABC Reefs manage to get that precious gem? I wasn't even aware you could purchase these units yet. Anyone have anymore information on plasma lights? I googled it but didn't find much..

The info i have is bulb life runs to about 20,000 hours before loss of spectrum. The actual wattage running through the bulb is about 180 watts, and 300 watts total for the system. With respect to photosynthetic radiation it is about 180% more efficient per watt than the typical metal halides. This info is comming straight from the company we purchased the unit from. We will continue to provide info and feedback on the unit as it comes in.

I would like to request a few corals ahead of time just to see if anyone has them available. Should we start another thread for something like that or just post in this thread? That way maybe we could have some items pre arraigned ahead of time. Ideas?

i think i'd post here first. If no hits, then start a thread.

Never saw another thread pop up...but I would drive the 2 hrs to get a few heads of Bright Dendro if less than $5k :p

What a Great Store

What a Great Store

Just wanted to post a quick note to all of you who shop at ABC. I had a problem with a fish i bought from dave dempsey it was called a red high fin blenny. I have a 75 gallon reef that was built and setup by the boys at ABC. Well long story short this blenny mowed down my canaria coral along with my birdsnest coral and also took a chunk out of my open brain. So when it attempted to hit my wellsophillya brain i went phsyco and tore down the tank to fish it out and bring him back to ABC. I picked out 2 corals one was a red open brain and the other not sure of the name. Anyway the total came to 204 dollars and some change. Well as i went to pay dave reached in his pocket and said he was taking care of it the man took cash from his own pocket and covered the cost of the entire order. There is not a store on the planet that would have ever done that for a customer. Tim at fairmount would have said sorry pal we dont guarantee fish compatibility. I know this cause i was a long time customer of theres until i found ABC in march of this year. If you have never stopped in please you owe it to yourself to go there even if you dont buy anything just meeting tim and dave is well worth the visit. Thanks Again Dave i am and always will be a friend and customer of the reef.
