Yes glad to be back! Hello everyone  Thanks for all the bumps and sorry if I made you guys think I died or something! I can feel the love.
I see much has changed! All the good ol' boys really stepped up their game while i was gone  cheers to all that eye candy.
The tank, as you all know it, is no longer up. However! don't panic that is by no means to say I'm not still in the game hoarding my box of crayons.
My wife's company was bought out in late 2014 so that gave us the opportunity to move back to Ottawa closer to good friends and family. Now between that, starting a new business and us expecting a new addition to the family, I had to take a step back and focus on those things. Now that the dust has settled, I'm ready to jump back in the hot seat and pursue my passion.
A new 340g system (same DT) has been built and the kinks are being ironed out. (yes, I am hooked for life) Ill get a pic of it for you guys. My brother is getting married in a few weeks but shortly there after I will get the gravy train running again.
Cheers
Hey! Congrats on the new addition and all the good life news.
Now... 340gallon system...
That's what I'm talking about!
Woohoo! New Reef tank!!!....I mean, congratulations on the new baby. Ahem. Seriously, though, its good to see you back here. It weighs heavy on my heart when I see reefers that have talent and passion give up or disappear and I'm so very happy to see you were just taking a break. Feel free to post as much as you like, it will be cool to hear you plan the system out as you go and then see it come to fruition
Kevin is back!!! Congrats on the new addition to the family.
I look forward to the new tank build and great photography.
So I've taken over a room in the basement as space has increasingly become a commodity in this household.
The new set up is about practicality more so over aesthetics on the exterior. My passion lies more with the inhabitants and the aquascape than the overall setup anyway.
I've been know to spend more than I should on certain aspects but I am also frugal. Like how I could have spent $100+ on a skimate chamber. Instead I build this hunk of junk;
com'on now don't be snobby.. Its automatic! haha
So this is the relative start of the build
Just as water went in and the overflow baffle siliconed in and dry.
And because I need more space
A Little progress later
My not so little anymore helper checking over my glue joints
Just so you know... This was made in Canada... Ya that's a fluidized sand filter thats just how I roll ok
Ive reached a point where alot of my equipment is starting to show its age.
Like this damn GHL doser... The screen is on believe it or not!
Ive replaced the screen on this thing 3 times now and its dead again. (oh, and so is the screen on my profilux II plus) This is such a PITA. Especially since GHL has just swept this issue under the rug and passed the buck to the customer.
Dead pixles and the screen is so dim you cant see it in daylight. Those who have experienced this fist hand, my condolences. Others can google it. Its no secret GHL your screens are junk. period.
I was recently quoted $133 shipped for a replacment.. Thats almost double what I use to get them for.
Well after some hard searching, the screen alone can be purchased from a Polish parts supplier.... FOR $12.50 USD!!!!!! Needless to say, I ordered 4. Take THAT GHL. Link for the screen http://www.tme.eu/en/details/dem162...splays/display-elektronik/dem-16228-sbh-pw-n/
I am happy that I found a reasonable alternative to this issue as I love my GHL doser. When it works, it works well.
We are only nice if you give us timbits and maple syrup. The couches are gone but some nice seating will be put in just for that!
Its amazing what can be accomplished on-the-line
Thanks for posting that link. I too have a P2 with a dead screen. Is the link you posted for the P2 or for the doser and is it plug and play?
Its just the screen part of the board. Soldering skills required!!!! not plug and play.
I haven't opened my P2 yet to see but i assume its the same screen. I use it on a PC though so I dont need the screen.
