After 9 months Leaving LED for Metal Halide

Get a piece of wood and create an open top box. Hang it with chain so you can adjust its height easy. Simple, cheap, and stain to match your stand.

This would be my choice for lighting equipment and would leave you room for some t5 and LED supplements if you want to add them in the next few months when you have the budget for them.

If you still have problems its not your lighting.

switched from radions back to t5's and couldn't be happier, though I still use reefbrites to suppliment. Too much money for full blown led fixtures when its being outdated within months

I dont think there is a complete LED solution off the shelf.
I think best results have been with all DYI set-ups...
IMHO, FWIW!

The Kessil a150 is a 32Watt lamp. That's not enough for a 24" cube.

LEDs aren't magical. The best diodes are ~54%. In a best case scenario you could get about 18ish Watts of light on target. If that isn't bad enough LEDs are very directional. A single cluster at the center of a 24" cube is like a spotlight on a stage.

Might not be...but it's great for a 16" 40 breeder with a 3" sand bed!

i have a DIY 150w LED for my SPS tank...and i get good grow and color...i think LED will work if you find a right one

Has anybody tried the new LED Mvava sun series 2?
I have had good success with it. Mine is the 48" 320w, (16x10w white, 160x1w blue).
Comes with new intelligent controllers and makes very simple to customize intensity, dawn, dusk and moonlight periods.
Distributors sell them for about 1800$ USD depending.
It is actually 2 fixtures of 160w 48"x6"x1", linked together and it comes with 2 controllers.
you can choose to link them together or space them out over the aquarium if needed.
