AI Hydra Settings Thread

Like to join the Hydra club. I ended up getting the Hydra26 and I must say it's a beautiful light.

Now I just have to figure out what would be the best numbers to go with for my tank (15gal 24x12x12) which is what I'm confused with. Everyone posts they're numbers but not everyone states the size and depth of their tank which I"m sure makes a huge difference. One persons setting at a tank with a 24" depth is not the same for another's with a 12" depth. I'm guessing is would be half?
Right now I have the light 11" off the surface and depth to the sand bed is 9.5"
Right now got various corals including SPS and would like to get more.
Any recommended levels? These are my current setting and this is with a 40% acclimation period of a month. Before this I had (2) 55W 10,000K / 03 Actinic Compact Florescent Lamps

Hi guys - UK owner here with some questions :

I've just picked up a brand new Hydra (old version, not the 26 or 52) and MKI controller - how do you connect this up to the Hydra? Seems the blurb only mentions the controller being compatible with the SOL and VEGA?

Cheers

Anthony

I made a hydra 26 thread which might get you more replies, http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=23112396#post23112396

I have been having a problem with my director. It just shuts off. Can anyone tell me how to reload the latest firmware? Firmware update doesn't appear anywhere on the menu. Any other suggestion would also be welcome.

If you are on 2.41r0 that is the latest. Otherwise on reboot it should go out and check. If it is shutting off make sure you are using the power adapter it came with.

You are probably not getting enough power. If it turns on and runs normally the firmware is good. Turns off, power. You can factory reset it which will wipe out all the settings. Maybe you have something sending it into nightmode.

It's not the power supply. I connected it to my computer and it did the same thing. I opened it up and reseated the memory card (pushed down on it). It's been working for about a half hour now so maybe that helped. Of course it's a Sunday. Sent an email to AI. I'll know if I'm OK if the lights are off when I get home tonight at 11pm.
How do you do a factory reset? Can't find that info anywhere.

Hi folks,

I'm taking delivery tomorrow of a new 60x24x24 tank and would like to know how many Hydra 26's I should get for the tank? Would 2 be enough or would I need 3? Or do you think I will be better off with 2 Hydra 52 modules?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Can someone help me with the "new controller"? The white one with touch buttons (that suck).. I just got this and need to know how to over ride the timer.. for example: I have it set to go off at 10ish... we go to bed early and I want to shut it off at 9 without resetting the controller what can I do? Is there a way to do it so it will continue the timer the following day? Thanks

There is, you can go into easy timer set up. Change the start or end time. Remember the ramp time is also a factor.

There are video on you tube to help as well.

The 26 covers a 30x30 spread so two will be fine.

But there isn't just a quick way to turn the lights off? That is all I want haha.. a button or something that can over ride the timer
