Well i have been in it for 20 plus years now and always use IO, i am sitting here thinking what you guys are using?

Switched from SeaChem Reef to Crystal Sea Marine.............

switching back to SeaChem

Varies box to box. Depending what's on sale. That usually means IO or RC

I tried a few buckets of coral pro, but it threw my parameters off with its high levels

Reef Crystals. Cheaper when you buy the 200 gallon box than the bucket. My LFS did not carry the big boxes of Reef Crystals until I requested it.

I just use regular Instant Ocean. Spent the extra for reef crystals for a while, then concluded since I was dosing, why pay the premium so I've switched back. Guess what - no difference!

hi guys

the reason i asked was because i read from Reef Crystal website they said there are good stuff they put in the salt that are good for nems and inverts, also the price is also on sale so i am tempted to try it out. i read somewhere long ago someone was using 1 type of salt and then decided to change to a different salt and that caused the nem to go decline. i just want to kow if anyone experience this before?

i am about to order 5 boxes.....

If you already use IO, I doubt it's that huge a change. Just the elevated levels.

I've been nemless a while so maybe I'm not qualified. But I think changing salts doesn't matter as much as they say as long as you do a few basic things.

Start the new salt before you run out of the old. Work it in so you are doing 50/50 old salt to new in a standard 10-20% water change. Work your way to new salt over course of a few water changes which should mean a month or more.

I buy whatever I get a great price on and buy several at a time. (So I've boucned from Kent/IO/this other premium stuff I got in a CL buy/etc.)

I like to use the IO 200 gal box. Only thing I hate with this is the bags are flimsy and often the seal is not good. When this happen, there are spill. But more important, moisture get into the salk and the salt cake up. When this happen, the salt will not completely dissolve. I really hate this. I am sure it is the CaCO3 that cystalize and then not redissolves.
I wish they use better bags for the 200 g boxes
