Angel Reef

The new tank looks super sexy Ryan, love the way you designed it around the spot you chose for it mate
Still filling it this weekend i hope.

I'm curious as to how you grouped your Regals. Did you add them all at once? Do they all get along well? thanks

Looks great Ryan. 3 regals in the tank?! Any tips on getting them to adjust to captivity?

Thanks, I used to cultivate sponge to get them to eat and wean onto frozen, nori and pellet.

Regals are quite easy to sex, originally I got a male and a female, then shortly after added a juvi. They get on well, there is definitely a pecking order, so well that they have started showing signs of spawning.

thanks mate, no I am not filling on the weekend...cause I filled it last night :smokin:

Tell me about sexing Regal angel. At what size do you see the dimorphic characteristic of the Regal?
Is the gill spike the major characteristic that differentiated the sexes?
I have one and want a pair.
Thanks

I would say approx 2.5in and yes the gill spike is the major character. If any smaller it is too hard to differentiate, well for me at least, im sure cops can.

At 2.5 inches, about the size of a usual Flame angel, how long would you estimate, is the male spike, and the female spike?

Your aqua-scape is really nice. Do you worry about lack of flow at the end of your aquarium? Or how do you plan for SPS type flow at the end of your aquarium?

Its hard to guess a size, but when you see them next to each other you will know.

Yes I am worried about lack of flow at the end, I would like to keep that end clean of PH but if it comes down to it I may have to add one. I have a few ideas to address that if/when it occurs.

Looking great Ryan, i have the same issue and will need a gyre for the 5ft length to get all my pumps off the viewing glass. Otherwise stream pumps create a big dead spot at the end in my tank where the flow meets the water coming back.
I watched one in action at the LFS and it will cover my 5ft length with interuption from a couple of streams as well mounted below the gyre. That's the plan anyway lol.
