so a friend gave me a $25 gift card for amazon.com for my bday :) couldn't think of anything to use it on till i was glancing thru some build threads on here & saw the american dj power switch.

amazon has them for the same price as guitar center (29.99), but no tax & free shipping :D

it came today....along w/ my bulk reef supply carbon/gfo reactor, so now i get to figure out where i'm gonna mount those in the stand LOL

Yes, those are nice. Make sure you mount it somewhere it can get airflow. They are notorious for heat generation. My Rackbox was always cooking because I had it stacked with my gear from those. Also ensure you use a GFI outlet with it. These do not play well with water :-)

yeah, i'm thinking at the very top in the front doors. the shelf inside the stand would keep plugs from falling in the tank. would prefer in the side door, but the unit is too long for there :(

i managed to get it to fit in the upper part of the side door....but just barely LOL

actually, it was too wide till i took a wood spade bit & "massaged" a small bit of the 2x4s away for the tabs to fit

i also had the rethink the mounting of the carbon/gfo reactor cause i couldn't find an easy way to keep the hoses in the chamber i wanted them if it was mounted on the door. decided to mount it on the back wall...which looks like its gonna be a tad more cumbersome changing the media, but at least i won't have to worry about the tubes moving out of the chamber everytime the door is opened

well, i was thinking in my head how i was gonna power everything. i really wanted everything plugged into the dj strip to make it easy to manage, but the thing i kept coming back to is that if it was all plugged into it & it was plugged into a gfci, if the gfci tripped, the whole tank was powered off...which i didn't want.

so i decided to re-think it & ordered (2) of these. they are the same american dj power center, but have 4 plugs instead of 8. so 1/2 the important tank stuff will be on 1 of them & the other 1/2 on the other & each will be plugged into a seperate gfci

problem solved :D

so i'll probably have an unused american dj 8-plug strip available for sale soon
