Ok figured I would start my tank build thread mostly done by DIY.

Tank is 1" Acrylic(almost bullet proof:uzi:) Polycast Acrylic to be picked up tomorrow.

48 x 32 x 24 Normal dimensions would equal 160g but since double the thickness it equals out to be 150g(ok 149.9). It will be set up peninsula style with a external overflow. Overflow size to be determined( 13" by ? by ?) Definitely 3 drains 1" with 2 1" returns.

Stand is 49 x 33x 40 tall. Made from 2x6 and 2x4 to be trimmed with ???. However I do know i am going to make the facing removable, either held on by magnets or on rails.

Canopy is going to hinge from the center and be able to lift from either side.

Skimmer is also another Diy modeled after the Aqua C series.

Going with 2 250w MH moving from my current tank and going to pick up 2 t-5 to retrofit.

But enough with the talking time for some pics.(which were done from my phone, future ones will be from my DSLR)

Old acrylic paper is a pain in the a$$ to remove. This stuff , makes it a million times better though.

Thanks. Skimmer was purchased off of eBay. The seller had bought parts for a few, he use to sell them assembled. Got that for 80$ now i need to figure out a pump for it.

The acrylic i bought from CL as 105x 51 sheets x2. I was constantly hunting CL on my phone( auto updates ) if i would have seen one close to that size i just would have bought it. Total tank cost is 420$ including extra materials to build a few sumps.

Yea I didn't really know what I was doing when I did that about a year ago now. It holds water fine and I put a drain line in it so it won't have much skimmate in it.

Without using Goof off liquid

With using goof off, this stuff is a life saver. It took only 1hr to remove 5 sides of paper, 1hr+ to remove 2 sides with goo gone gel.

Now for the Eye Candy!!!

Now back to finishing the Stand.

Does anyone Have a Pocket hole/ Kreg jig i can borrow.

For all those interested it was built by Acrylic Imaging off belvedere. Down the street from aquaworkz.

Ray and Mary are very nice, and really hooked it up. Ray has built some of the tanks sea world and Monterey bay as well.

I haven't water tested yet as I need to put the euro brace on for peace of mind.
