Anyone own or ever seen an Elos System?

ah, yeah i saw those pix. they are awesome!

how is the noise in the overflow? I'm guessing their standpipe or whatever must be near dead silent ;)

I'm a bit afraid of vinyl tubing, though I guess I'd just replace it all with pvc =/

Noise level isn't bad at all, slight water running noise but not gurgling. I have the tank setup in my family room where the entertainment system is and movies aren't a problem.

No, thats the rear vent and thats the lighting I believe. The black trim is where the glass ends.

Why are you scared of vinyl tubing? Had a problem with it once?

I've never since I have that m-tank (if it sprung a leak it would just leak back into the tank), but I've read so many stories of people's chillers and other plumbing popping loose and them either catching something on fire, draining their tank into the house, etc etc.

I'm sure with proper care and maintenance you wouldn't have that problem, but I think I'll stick to PVC and pvc primer/glue =/

PVC is about the loudest option you have :)

If some ones vinyl tubing popped off, it's 100% their fault for not using a clamp, plain old user error.

Agreed. There is also some really thin wall cheap vinyl that really needs a good clamp and should not be used to begin with. Problem is it usually what you find at fish stores. Jeff over at life reef uses some good vinyl tubing and I have a sump with mostly all of that vinyl and it works like a charm with good clamps. With our silicone tubing, zip ties or the same plastic hose clamps work perfectly and make for a much easier and much less noisy installation. I am with you on the noise of PVC. I also like being able to slip off tubing and clean pumps instead of using unions.

ah, I wish I had known about how the overflow looked and worked earlier, I think that would've sold me on the system =(

the fact that there were no good pictures or a diagram of how it worked kind of put me off.

glad nuuze put those up for us to see! looks awesome.

yep nuuze has done some pretty cool work. Especially since he has worked on it for about 4 days it is pretty impressive.

i'm thinking of going with a combination of spaflex and hard pvc. what do you use gresh?

All three. Silicone out of the pump, to rigid, to spa, to rigid :D

I use the silicone as a noise buffer right off the pump, and all my plumbing is isolated :)

that sounds like a pretty good idea =) the spa is for your turns/angles?

Thanks everyone! :)

The tank so far is awesome! For some reason everyone including myself that sees the tank thinks its bigger than a 79 gallon.

I ended up using zip ties on all of the tubing that is under water since the metal ones will rust, the plastinc ones I bought did not fit. The only one I used a metal clamp on is the return hose for the return barb that connects to the sump.

Where do you get silicone tubing from around here?

I happen to use it at work, plus, we sell surplus online. IIRC, Jesse sells it as well. I only sell 3/4", in 50' rolls. FWIW, the stuff I have is a bit different then the common silicone tubing.
