ah, yeah i saw those pix. they are awesome!
how is the noise in the overflow? I'm guessing their standpipe or whatever must be near dead silent
I'm a bit afraid of vinyl tubing, though I guess I'd just replace it all with pvc =/

Why are you scared of vinyl tubing? Had a problem with it once?
Agreed. There is also some really thin wall cheap vinyl that really needs a good clamp and should not be used to begin with. Problem is it usually what you find at fish stores. Jeff over at life reef uses some good vinyl tubing and I have a sump with mostly all of that vinyl and it works like a charm with good clamps. With our silicone tubing, zip ties or the same plastic hose clamps work perfectly and make for a much easier and much less noisy installation. I am with you on the noise of PVC. I also like being able to slip off tubing and clean pumps instead of using unions.Originally posted by GreshamH
PVC is about the loudest option you have
If some ones vinyl tubing popped off, it's 100% their fault for not using a clamp, plain old user error.

All three. Silicone out of the pump, to rigid, to spa, to rigid
I use the silicone as a noise buffer right off the pump, and all my plumbing is isolated![]()
