anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Fish-street say they can not send a spare impeller, I need to send back the complete pump !
Why wouldn't they sell spare impellers, as it is the only part that will certainly break down in time ?

It looks like they are just a middle man that found a great hookup before someone else did. Jaebo said they do not sell directly to them.

Be nice, but make sure they know that there is a rising tide of complaints about there WP40 pump on Reef Central which just happens to have a worldwide audience. Sacohen and I have both sent them requests for help. If they get enough complaints maybe we'll get some help. Either that or they will get such a bad reputation that people will quite buying them. But being a good corporate player and taking care of customers is really the easier and smarter path. :debi:

Like many others I am replacing my mp40 with the wp40. Three wetsides in 3 years is a little crazy. Plus the noise of the vortech is enough to drive anyone nuts. If this pump lasts a year or two its WELL worth the 100 bucks.

I sent a follow up to Jebao this morning that Fish-Street was unwilling to help me, but they wanted to charge me for the replacement sensor that Jebao suggested the send me.

They have not responded back as of yet.
I don't think they will.

Fish-Street said I can either pay for the replacement light sensor or send it back for a credit, if I understood their bad english correctly.

Fish-Street said:
we have 2 option suggestion for you

1) Pay the shipping fee for the sensor for USD2 to got a new unit
Or
2) Return the item to forgive a risk on the sensor to us to got a refund

I now have 2 running on a 180G @ 24V. More noise than I like but manageable..... Way to much flow! Blew a softball sized branching frogspawn halfway across the tank. I am now running them on a wave timer switching sides every 6 minutes... Love It! This tank is controlled by an Arduino controller which is running the Jarduino program. It would be nice to figure out how to incorporate these into the controller? If anybody has any input on this please let me know. I also put another WP-40 on a 90G and am running it at 15v in the else mode.... Perfect! Very low noise and just the right amount of flow for this tank.

I have issues with my sensor too. If I turn the lights off in the room all at once, it's dark and the pump continues to run. If I set the room lights dim, or point the sensor at the moonlights in the tank (a PITA to do) and it goes on night mode. If I then cover the sensor with my finger it goes back to day mode. The really screwy part is, if I leave the dim lights on for a few minutes and then cover the sensor (or turn the lights completely off) it stays in night mode. It's totally screwy. I tried it at the 18v I have been running it at and again at 24v and it does the same thing either way. Honestly I'd rather have a $150 pump that worked better rather than a too cheap pump that is marginal.

So I've just sent my 'complaint' to Jebao as well.

Mine kind of works but's it strange.

When my PC 10K's go out the unit goes into night mode.
An hour later when my actinic's go out too and my moonlights kick on it jumps back into normal mode.

That's just not right.
It goes into night mode when the 10k's go out and the actinic's are still on, but when the actinic's go out and it get's even darker in the room it goes back to normal mode.

Explain that????

I'm thinking of pulling the sensor off and trying to modify a photo sensor from those outdoor flood lights with the sensitivity control. That's what this thing needs is a way to control the sensitivity of the photo cell.

@ Sacohen.....Mine is doing the same thing. When the white channels on my EG leds goes off and the blues stay on- the sensor works but when the blues go off and the room is dark it switches back to whatever mode it was previously in. I have a power strip close to where the controller was. The strip has an illuminated on\ off switch that has a faint orange glow when it's on. By placing the controller close to this faint light it has worked great two nights in a row. Matter a fact I had just went down stairs and checked to make sure it was. Maybe a dim night light near the controller would do the same for those who are having the same problem.

Hello Ron,

I have send Jebao an email.
But Fish-street has offert me to send a pump for only shipping costs...I payed, so, lets see.

That is exactly what mine is doing! The lights are dim and it's night mode, the lights go off altogether and it goes back into 'normal' mode. The new sensor sounds like an interesting idea. I wouldn't have a clue how to make it work. I'm still going to keep after Jebao for help.

I realized after I posted that suggestion that the sensitivity settings on those security lights are usually for motion detection, not light sensitivity.

I'm not sure how to go about it too, but it was a thought I had.
I have thoughts that pop into my mind and then it takes me a couple of day or more to figure out how to make it work.

Left me know if you make any headway with Jebao. They still have not responded to my 2nd e-mail.

Just got my pump yesterday afternoon... I thought I had a defective pump/controller, but it was the power cord! How do you send a power cord that dosn't work!!! :angryfire: Kinda funny though, I unplugged the one from my MP60 to start the trouble shooting out... lol:lolspin:

Kinda like cannibalism :blown: on the MP60, the jebo has me almost ready to pull the trigger on a ReefAngel and another wp40... and sell the MP60 :eek1:

EDIT: I am going to try and pick up a 100K and 200K pot today from the shack and try them out, if they don't work there I will try to mod a photocell like mentioned earlier...

I tried to post pictures to this to show how I have mines hook up, but they are too big. I think the sensor being on the side of the controller is the problem. I have mine inside the tank pointing a little away from the LED's. When my white LED's are on the controller is working in day mode and when my white LED's goes out it goes into night mode. The blue LED's have no effect on the sensor as they are on for an hour after the white goes out and the controller still goes into night mode. In the morning when my blue LED's comes on the controller is still in the night mode until the white LED's comes on. I have one sensor hook up to 2 controllers and I haven't had a problem since I put them on the tank.

Well what type of photo resistor does jebao ship with the units?I have seen a few different models that have different sensitivity ratings on a certain auction website that we may try to see if it fixes the issue. If anyone who has experience with photo resistors can chime in and guess what model or part number would probably be best that would help as well. In the mean time I have a couple of old moon lights that I have positioned near the light sensor that allows it to stay in night mode since it will just turn on in complete darkness.

This is the mail I got back from fishstreet support regards the noise on the Jebao WP40. I was inquired about the humming noise (same noise on the video posted) on page 80. Please see message below

Original Email from Fishstreet..

Dear Eric,

The operation from the W1 to W3 mode have a sound to running due to the voltage frequnecy is from 12v to 24V change, it just like vortech and tunze when it pulse mode to operation have a noise~ If operation a normal mode is small sound to operation. Make sure on the operation on the sound~

thanks

Eric
