anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

No cutting on any stock cable. The 24v coming from the power supply is connected to the input of the PWM board and the output from the PWM board is plugged into the stock controller. The wired pot allows me to change the power to the controller. So this is the 3rd option other than a variable PS and the LED dimmer.

So if you didn't cut the cables how did you get the 24v into the board?

Ron; I totally agree.
Waves do decrease at night. I used to be a very active diver and night dives were always calmer than day dives.
BTW, did you ever get a response from Jebao? They still never responded to my 2nd e-mail to them.

Thank you for that bit of support. My wife and I do a lot of very early morning beach walks at home and snorkeling in the Keys and I'd say 60% of the time or more is calmer from first light until mid morning. We do beach walks in the evening too, and again I see the water calm down as evening comes on. Days snorkeling both at the reefs and near shore are always with more wave action.

I heard back from Jebao and they just said they've never heard of the problem before. I'll wash my hands of them as a company I recommend to anybody. If asked I'd say, they make a fairly typical inexpensive Chinese pump that can be a good deal if it works well, but if it doesn't, don't bother trying to get any customer support. In other words, buy at your own risk. As low as their prices are and as expensive as their competition is, they'll do just fine without my support! :spin3:

The product does come with a one year warranty, well according to there sheet that comes with the box. Which of course is in chinese. They are horrible at customer service with english emails. I may just write one and google translate it into chinese. Also i find it sad that there are some people who shipped from china and there package has still not arrived. I saw the ebay seller was doing 2 day but was slightly higher priced and now its on amazon also for even more.

Just google translated my email to them in chinese see if i get a response.

if your asking about 1 standard in the box controller for two pumps then the answer is no. If you want to do that i think you need something more serious which is beyond my technical skills. I simply have the controllers side by side. Take mode to low, then push mode at the same time again. That puts you on W1 which is the best wave mode and they are in sync and stay that way.

Thanks. May be a dumb question but can I use one for both my pumps?

I don't think so but I am not sure. I am still waiting for someone more knowledgeable in electronics to tell me if my PWM controller is a good option to drive the stock controller and pump.

I ordered my 2 on 3/25 and it arrived on 4/1. Just got home to open it and everything is intact and the boxes were in good shape. I currently have a Coralife DC5800 controller with 4 modes, wonder if that could control these pumps. Will try it later tonight.

Called my lfs he ordered about 8 sold out first day saved one for me. This thing rocks love it buying another when he gets his shipment of 20 next week.

It looks like our options are to use a Variable Voltage power supply, the led dimmer mentioned, a AD110-A10 PWM board hooked into the stock controller, or to do away with the stock controller alltogether and use a RA,Apex,Adruino,etc...

Personally I have already bought and tried the led dimmer, however I think I will order the pwm board and the pot that goes with it for controll, its still to uncertain if the led dimmer will damage the pump/controller in the long run...

I'm curious where this PWM signal is going to. If you send PWM directly to the VA line on the pump, it will work, but it's going to be hell on the motor. You need a LPF to smooth out the signal.

I have been running my pump using this for over 1 week running at 18v withou any problem. Anyone sees any problem with this?

If I remember correctly I read on the Reef Angel Forum that Roberto said in the end the "ripple" from the PWM signal wouldnt really affect this motor according to the way its built and the way we are using it in a aquarium. That the low pass filter was not absolutely necessary...

@simon
That is great that a lower cost board works with this pump on PWM instead of the AD110-A10... I wonder if their are any diffrences...???

Has anyone tried these in a large tank. I have a 420 and bought 2. They really do not move much water on the wave besides close to the pumps. I may need to add 2 more . They are smaller than my koralia's though and the magnet is alot better also.

I have a 210 gal (not large compared to yours) with one pump (have a 2nd one coming) and it is sufficient for my tank. The only reason I am getting a 2nd one is because I am using oolite sand and it would work better to run two with slightly less power than one at full power (I'm going to use an adjustable ac adapter to set the power lower).

I would guess you would want at least 3 for your size tank.
