anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

That's a great mod. Much appreciated.

Between finishing my DIY light, getting these working on an Apex, getting a battery backup connected, and modding the shroud, I have my hands full for the next week or so... on top of the 70 hour work week I need to put in. Sigh.

It is fun to play with, if you have extra pieces to work with, fortunately I have collected several different shrouds over the years.

I have this and wonder how this would do with 2 of them. You can plug any pump into it and it basically alternates the flow from the powerhead ramping one side up to 100% while ramping the other side down to 30%. Is this similar to the controls already on the pump?

The Seio controller is for a/c pumps and was designed for their pumps, some people have claimed they work with other a/c pumps and others said they didn't.

That Seio controller is rather expensive at $144 compared to Jebo WP40's $85 which includes the pump and the controller. The ELSE mode in WP40 is a random pattern flow in which the pump ramps up and down following no fixed frequency, it seems, and the pump never comes to a complete stop. This ELSE mode is very similar to the Vortech MP40's ReefCrest mode.

If you put your ear close to the pump, you can hear it going up and down in a somewhat random pattern.

Since Reef Crest and NTM were the only two modes I used on the Vortechs, two of these pumps do the job very well at ~18v each.

Now if I can mod the shroud to not blow my Duncan 3 ft across the water in its original spot close to one of the pumps...

It definitely works with other pumps, I not only can see the flow change but can put my hand in front of the pumps and feel it increase and decrease. I am using it with the cheap ebay powerheads and it works like a charm. Was really just asking if it was similar to what the pumps already do.

I bought a variable power supply thinking I would need it, but I run my wp40 wide open on my 4' 150 gallon. I am still running two koralia evo 1400s to help with dead spots. I think a lot has to do with the aqua scape.

I'm considering ordering another wp40. At that point ill be forced to use the variable power supply lol. Ill try and post a video tonight.

bhazard: on your PWM module, did you be sure to connect the ground on the PWM source with the ground on the pump? Also, these things might need a specific frequency of PWM to operate correctly. It may take someone putting a scope on and seeing what's what to get this working, but the ardiuno based stuff is easy to reprogram.

Actually, no. I only used the ground from the 5v AC/DC adapter. I could try running a wire from pump ground into the module ground.

I just ordered the WP40 today for my 120g. There are a few of you guys who want to see one of these pumps in a 120g, so I will post a video when I receive it. Probably going to take close to 2 weeks for the pump to arrive.

Tried that too, no go.

Got mine today. Hooked it up to the variable power supply I got off amazon and I'm very pleased with the results. My tank is about 80gallons, 48"x20"x20" and I have it in 'else' mode using the 19v setting on the power supply. This is plenty of flow for me. This one pump replace two modded Tunze nanostream 6025 which were each putting out 1000gph. I can hear the pump ramp up and down, but the noise is not obnoxious. If this pump proves to have long-term reliability, it would be one the best purchases I have made for my tank.

Mine has been running for just over 2 weeks now and although it was never loud, it has become more quiet. I was at a friend's house on Sunday and noticed his MP40's made more noise (which still wasn't much) than my WP40.

One major difference between Vortech MP40 and Jebo WP40, besides the noise (I agree MP is noisier as I own 2) is MP's propeller never stops but in certain modes of WP, the propeller comes to complete stop. I don't know if it is good or bad for the longivity of the pump. But since most people have to replace the wet side of the MP every couple of years, it is hard to say Vortech is better or more reliable.
