anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Following this thread.....can someone post a link to the device most have agreed would be best to control the flow of these units? (other than a controller....IE: Apex).
thanks

Also, not trying to hijack this thread but if you are looking for a controllable inexpensive powerhead has anyone considered the JBJ Oceanstream pumps....2 pumps w/controller for $135....1600gph each. Yes they are not going to move as much water as these wp's but they are an option I had been considering before this thread.

I ran the JBJs on my old cube. Didn't like them, and you could hear the clicking each time the pumps turned on. The 10 sec lowest interval was poor for wavemaking.

For me it's not about making waves as I don't have room to make "waves". I want the pump because the speed can be adjusted for turbulent, random flow. Why are people suggesting on/off wave making alternatives on this thread? Doesn't make sense to me...it's kind of like a sneakers thread with people suggesting a pair of boots.

I finally took my pump out the box. I noticed the magnet is not sealed like an Tunze magnet for inside of pump? Should I be concerned about an exposed magnet?

So the "not possible" group buy for these pumps at $35 each is underway on Atlanta Reef Club Forums. Sucks that I paid full price for mine already. I'm ordering another one for... ~$60ish after its all said and done. Fish street is marking these way the crap up...

This isn't concrete yet. He still hasn't gotten a quote on shipping.

Shipping would have to be around $70 per pump for it to not be a better deal than fish street tho...

I tried really hard asking them about one, but they aren't very responsive, even at the time differences emailing them late at night. I'd become an Atlanta reefer if its ok there, lol. GBs that aren't from sponsors are not allowed here.

Don't use that one. Someone said it has a built-in fan which makes quite a bit of noise.

I and many other are using this one. No fan and it runs cool.

You just replace the stock power supply with this and plug into the controller.

THANKs.....so it's a simple substitution and then connects into their controller?

I sent a PM to the Atlanta Reef Club's group buy organizer to see if my reef club could add to his group buy....there is a few of us that is also interested.

Yep! Simple substitution.

Well after a week I am happy to report all my corals are VERY happy with the WP40 and have never looked better. The is I am having is with my Green Sinularia which is now facing the back of the tank away from the current.

I bought a MP60 and its worth every penny and then some. I won't buy MP40s because of all of the parts that need replaced. I have a Tunze 6215 wavebox and a 6205 and the 60 out does them both. There Is no way that for 85$ the quality can be there. What about stray voltage in the water? Hydor has pumps priced along these lines and the leak stray voltage into the water like crazy. I will stick with my hundreds of dollars worth pumps over something cheaper that you can never get serviced or speak to someone about operation of one

Well, regardless of what pump you own, I highly suggest a grounding probe in both your DT in the overflow area and one in the sump. I have had 'high quality' stuff leak stray voltage so its good and safe practice either way :)

I keep hearing this from people who don't own the pump, but not from the actual owners like myself.

I've heard the opposite. If you're not running a GFCI with it, it can make for some dangerous scenarios.

You got any evindence on that? Stray voltage from this type of pump...I can hardly imagine how, without the pump failing completely in very short time. ...stray voltage from a submersed pump would mean open contact between electric parts and salt water...I can see no way it would work longer than a few seconds, if even that.

And yes... If you have spent a lot of money on streamers...this is no fun topic te read :headwally: I have got three tunze in my tank, but wp40 has shipped yesterday...:celeb1:
