anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

OH boy! I am doing a water test on my 120 right now and decided to throw one of these in the tank to see what it could do. This thing is AWESOME! The ELSE mode rocks! I can't wait to get two of these rocking in here, at a lower voltage. That will be some random flow.

Now when my PWM gets here, Apex time.

Although I was very happy with a Vortech MP40 combined with a Tunze Comline Wavebox in my 75 mixed reef, I bought a WP40 a few weeks ago as a backup for the Vortech. I took the Vortech out to clean it today and replaced it with the WP40 while soaking the Vortech in vinegar. Yikes. Set at 20V, the WP40 wave mode (W1) provides more flow and stronger waves than the Vortech and Tunze (also set at 20V) combined. Yet it is not "overpowering" the fish or causing a sand storm. So far, the only thing in the tank that does not seem to like the flow is a large toadstool leather a few inches below and about 6" away from the pump. It closed up almost immediately, and even after extending polyps again, its "head" is slightly bent over and facing the back of the tank away from the pump. I'll have to keep an eye on it. So far, I'm impressed. I may leave it in tank, and use the Vortech/Tunze combo as the backup.

Wouldn't it be wiser to sell the Vortech and the Tunze and buy another wp40 as a backup? You'll come out way ahead in the end.

First let me start off by saying I own both of the major brands Tunze and Vortec. I prefer Tunze over Vortec due to the amount of noise the Vortecs make after a while. Currently my MP-10 is louder than 6 Tunze pumps running. I am just waiting for it to die then it goes to the trash like the last one. Now for my initial assessments of the WP-40 this thing moves water. It's not dead silent but not noticeable either. After a while it just blends into white noise. I was testing with the TV off and the return off and I could not hear it from a few feet away. I turned off all my other pumps in the tank and and turned off the return. I am glad I did. The W1 mode half way up makes at least a 1" wave in a 6' long tank! That is saying a lot. Here are two videos of the pump running. If this pump last more than a year I will consider a great investment. I am impressed and will let it sit on W1 mode today and see how the corals respond. If you have ever been snorkeling or diving the corals move just like in the ocean its crazy!

I am waiting for my WP-40 for a 120 sps dominate tank. Thanks for the re-assurance.

You know it's an expensive hobby when we can take a risk on a $100 propeller pump and be willing to trash it..lol

ashish - That is so true! The best part is there is no buyers reorse :). I have been playing around with it more today and and out the box this thing is great.

So now that we know the motor uses 0-5V, why are people still buying variable power supplies? All you need is a potentiometer between the controller's VA output and the motor. Can someone who has electronics experience measure the current on this wire? Once we know the current, we can choose the right size potentiometer to install.

Unfortunately it is a bit more complicated. The pump is voltage controlled not current controlled. A potentiometer would limit the current, not the voltage. However if you were to use a POT to make a voltage divider, than that would probably work, and be quite easy to do.

are they too strong for a 60 cube?

Most like too strong unless you have all SPS corals. Its probably going to be too strong for my 120 gallon tank. I heard they are coming out with a lower power one or you could purchase WP-40 and buy a variable power supply ($12 online) and cut the power/wave in half. At least that's what someone adviced me - I am currently waiting on my 1 WP-40.

I think it's important for people posting videos to show what 1 or 2 WP-40 can do w/o any other pump on. I will be specific when I get a chance to make a video

Totally no buyers remorse.. the funny part is..we spend so much money on the little stuff, replacing fish, pumps, bulbs, food, etc. I went to petco with no intentions of spending more than $20 to buy salt and somehow managed to spend $75. I bought 200 gallons worth of reefcrystals on sale for $45. algae scrapper, 2 things of food. Mean while I am looking for more JUNK to buy that I really don't need. At the check-out counter my neice says "ashish she took all your money" lol

Anways, the wave in your tank is serious!!!! Theres no way 1 pump can cause a wave that long and wide. Please tell me you have 2 WP-40's on your tank or describe exactly what is causing this flow (return line, etc)? I know you said it's on W1 (lowest mode assumed?) but do I see 2 WP-40 on each side of the tank? I was planing on keeping 1 of these in my 120 gallon with large staghorn colonies that have grown in turbulent flow pattern. I was hoping I could just use my current pumps as back-ups and blast the tank randomly few hours per day.

That price doesn't include shipping, which will add another $20-50 per pump depending on how it is shipped

If it's to good to be true it's probably not:eek2: Fish street propeller pump line has many different pumps some that are very affordable (many are $35) and look pretty damn cool http://www.fish-street.com/wave_maker I doubt that ARC would get a discount that cheap on a new pump. Unless they where buying 1000's and even then it's pushing it (for retail).

After reading all 1,215 posts on this thread I decided I'd give the WP-40 a try and put in my order tonight.

Even though I have an Apex I also ordered the adjustable voltage adapter to play with to see if I really like the pump before I order the PWM board as well as the VDM module for my Apex.

If this pump does turn out to be as amazing as everyone says then I'll make the order for the additional pieces to connect it to my Apex.

Oddly enough I'm actually hoping to have to spend the additional money...

In my mail tracker, it says "The item (xxxx) was delivered on 13-Mar-2013."

I still don't have my package. I didn't find any packages on my doorstep. What to do?

I just received an email today from Eric. I ordered my unit on the 4th, but they gave me a tracking number from someone else order. My unit never shipped, but now it ships out today and I got a new shipping tracker number. Sucks to be me.

ashish - Petco is a trap... lol. I visit my local one pretty often. They have weekly Manager specials and I like them. What you saw was one WP-40 on W1 mode with the return pump off. The setting was knob half way up and no other pumps were on. The second pump you see is my 6105 which is off. So believe your eyes one pump and you see what that baby can do. I will take a new video tomorrow with the setting I currently have on. The video will show return off and return on.

My guess is there's probably 1000's of american's in 50 different states ordering these things. I don't think they have the heart (in fear of losing money) to put these pumps on "Out of stock"...Instead ordering more pump, rushing and shipping them to the wrong address lol. I have patients for this hobby but I hate waiting for shipping

I have been following this thread for a month now....The best videos to sum up 1 WP-40 performance is nightowl video. He has 1 WP-40 on W1 mode creating waves (solo) that not even multiple vortech/tunzes could do at it's lowest speed.

This is the ideal for SPS dominate reef. I am sure Jebo will fix the power issue but for now I will buy the variable power supply since I don't like saltwater on my floors.

To the folk who come on this thread posting "products are cheap chinese knock offs, electric current, etc", get of tunze's bandwagon... I understand they are the leaders and for a good reason. This thread is really just for people interested in ordering a WP-40 and want customer feedback. This thread is very long and has many replies (so far positive)...if you are not sold then you can wait a few years (come back to this thread), and see if these products are worth buying. You can bet most of the people will come to this thread first to post product failures. Hopefully this product takes-off to make this hobby some-what affordable for families who can't afford or justify buying fancy controllable pumps.

Both videos I posted was just one jebo wp40

Just set up mine. It is awesome! Works great even with 12V laptop adapter on 60G tank, might even add more (I bought variable power adapter anyway).
Or could even see two of these in same tank (no reason really, flow is great).
