anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

Of course it won't be identical. If its close enough size wise, epoxy could work wonders.

May not even need epoxy. The clips definitely aren't likely to line up, since they won't even line up on a different model Tunze. All you'd need is for them to be the same size. And then the mounting system itself will hold the front and back together.

Looks like a nice little pump for the price. Might have to consider a W25 when it comes out. A W40 would be overkill for me, even turned down by 50%. But a W25, maybe with a similar speed throttling as this one, sounds about right...

Has anyone tried these on a timer yet?

I have two WP40s controlled by RKE. One runs for 60 sec then off 10 sec and the other on for 45 sec and off 15 sec. This gives the corals and fish some resting times without constantly bombarded by waves and currents. It works out pretty well.

Ordered one with variable DC adapter for my new 4'-75Gal tank. Hopefully will not raise tsunami in it but provide enough flow in 15V mode. :)

Cost-wise I'd have to spend around $100 for enough Koralia's to get proper flow, but here for $110+$15 I get enough flow with 3-mode wavemaker and variable speed control. Sounds like win-win as long as it doesn't break during first year :)

I have a 75G as well. Have you rec'd yours yet? If so how's it working?

Took me 2 hours to read through this thread. I hope to order one soon maybe even today you guys turned this $85 circulation pump into a full blown vortech and I am definitely impressed with you guys. I plan on buying one for my 75 and getting the variable voltage power source. I wouldn't be surprised if this cheap little pump not so little pump last upwards of 3 years. I have an amazing skimmer called an SCA-302 and I can already tell its gonna last me a long time. This pump looks amazing and if the next person to get one wouldn't mind shooting a vid of them unboxing it that would be great and then post the link on here. If you like to know more about the skimmer search allsps40 search by username. It was a pain reading this because it got longer while I was reading. Keep on posting.

If I didn't get my Reef Octopus, I was about to go with that skimmer too. There are a few people who have had a bad pump or loud one in that thread, but otherwise that skimmer is a good Magus clone.

Could you just use zip ties to hold them together. That's what I use on my Tunze after the clips break.

Probably.

I just noticed that these pumps actually do have a pretty wide nozzle, so there might not even be a reason to swap them. I'll compare when I get mine from Tunze. There are about 6 cross pieces inside the nozzle. Maybe cutting a few might widen the flow too.

just got my pump so thought i would throw it in the sump and try it out , i have to admit this pump puts out allot of water here it is on w2 settings on my 150 gallon 8 foot long sump if you watch it closely you can see it rocking my skimmer back and forth

How many of you are also running other pumps with your WP-40? Looks like the pump provides plenty of back and forth moton but will one (turned down) provide enough flow in a 105G 48" long or will I need to keep a couple of the Korillas for flow in the lower part of the tank to limit dead spots?

I have posted this in my local club forums and am getting a lot of questions about how can this compare to the vortech. Most guys with a vortech say there is no comparison between the wp40 and the mp40. Is that a fair comment? How would you compare the 2, if at all? Would you guys that have both say its more comparable to a koralia or a Tunze?

Can you post how you got this working and maybe post some pics? Lots of interest here.

I would have them read this thread. There are several comparisons to the MP40s

The video that I posted earlier shows how I position my two WP40s in my 92g tank. The one on left running in W1 mode pointed to the middle and front of the tank and the pump on right running in ELSE mode pointed to the lower back and right glass panel. The RKE controller is simply acting as a timer to turn on and off the pumps. One nice thing about plugging the pumps in the RKE is at night, both pumps are off so I don't need to use the light sensor on the WP40. Keep in mind I am running the pump in 15 and 18V, not full power of 24V.

It's funny how people who don't own both pumps can make such comparisons.

I own both. The WP40's push more water per pump for 1/4th the price. The are built identically to what the Tunze pumps look like, but the controller has built in wave modes and a "reef crest" type mode. These pumps are also MUCH quieter than Vortechs.

They want to believe spending 4 times as much is that much better, but in reality it isn't.

Did anyone try to wire a 100K variable resistor or pot to the light sensor port to see if you can porportionally dial down the speed of the pump?

Agreed.

I run two koralia 1400 along side my wp40 in my 150g 48" long.

Agreed also. I own both MP40 and WP40 so I am qualified to compare both pumps and their performance.

I am glad there are people who believe strongly that MP40 is much better pump because I need them when I am ready to sell them:lol:
