Please forgive the sparseness of my tank. I tore it apart a few weeks ago and basically restarted.

Not always

Not always

no you should be able to track all the way ..

Whenever I bought mine I was like a kid tracking Santa Claus. I check every minute. But it didn't tell me when it departed only when it arrived. I thought it was going through customs when it arrived the HK facility cause it took awhile only to find out it arrived in NY. Then I thought it was going through custom there for awhile then it arrived at Jacksonville and so on. It never told me when it left each location. That part was frustrating.

I think I've gotten to the point I order so much stuff I'm not doing that all the time, usually. Sometimes I can't help it, but I usually just see when the expected delivery is then start checking it every hour that day. LOL. The international thing, I just give up.

just ordered 40 with the 3% discount. thanks for the day long read everyone.

DC 5V-24V 4A 48W LED Light Dimmer Adjustable Bright Controller

i never saw if this worked. i like the idea of dialing it in precisely

I think it was suggested that you don't drop the voltage to below 12V to make sure the controller has enough voltage to operate. The controller may work below 12V but it is not a good thing.

Well I thought my light sensor was working but I just noticed a wave in the tank. For some reason it is not working in complete darkness. If I turn on a dim light the sensor works but in total darkness it doesn't. That makes no damn sense. Anyone else having this issue?

Bright lights = Pump on
Dim lights = Pump off
Total Darkness = Pump on
Finger over sensor = Pump off.

arghhhhhhhhh

did you get it to work somehow?

For what it's worth. I ordered a WP40 last Tuesday evening and it arrived today, Monday. It took less than a week.

I certainly think it is worth the $110, but my impression is that the materials seem a bit "inexpensive." The materials that the bracket that holds the pump, the magnets and suction cups, and the controller box are all made of feels very light and thin. I've never seen a Tunze in person, but I would guess that the Tunze and the Vortec are made of thicker, heavier materials. I had two Koralia 1050s and a 1400, and the material on those seems to be a bit stronger.

I have a standard 90 gallon 4ft tank with which I was using the three Koralias on a Red Sea Wave Maker. I replaced the two 1050's and have been running the WP40 on 16volts with the $12 converter from Amazon that has been referenced here a few times. The pump is very big in my tank, and I wish that they made some smaller ones that had about half or three quarters the power. If they had those I would have liked to use two on either side of the tank without the Koralia. Two of the 40s in my tank would be way too big and powerful. Two of these on a bigger/longer tank would be perfect I would think.

As others have said, this pump does move a large volume of water. The controller that comes with it has plenty of options for me. I cannot hear my pump at all over my overflow and metal halide fixture fans. Maybe it's just the luck of the draw, or maybe I have a very loud tank, but mine is dead silent at 16 volts.

I have only been running it now for a couple hours, so I don't know about longevity and reliability, but overall I am very satisfied with the purchase. I hope to get a six foot tank in the future, and will use two of these. For the money, I would definitely recommend the pump.

Hope this helps.

If you guys keep linking to eBay and talking about group buys and exactly where the vendor is you are going to get the thread closed. Just sayin :(

24 volts down to 12, the knob will turn down more but the pump wont turn.

Sorry for the dark video, camera on phone hates lights, the leds are dimmed all the way down and you see how bright they look.
