anyone tried to using Jebo WP40?

If I remember correctly I read on the Reef Angel Forum that Roberto said in the end the "ripple" from the PWM signal wouldnt really affect this motor according to the way its built and the way we are using it in a aquarium. That the low pass filter was not absolutely necessary...

@simon
That is great that a lower cost board works with this pump on PWM instead of the AD110-A10... I wonder if their are any diffrences...???

He did say the ripple wouldn't affect it, however, he was referring to the ripple out of the LPF. It's widely accepted that this 'analog' signal is constant, where in truth, it is not. It's not a true analog signal because of the way it is generated, through an LPF via PWM. There is a reason his cable has a LPF built into it. It's literally less than $1 in parts to make a LPF, so why skimp there?

Ohh, it's better for the fish if you slow down you wave maker at night. Well I have florida white beach sand that is fine. Put it on low and went to bed. Woke up and my sps frags on the sand were buried. Lol they are fine now just didnt even consider changing something so small would create all new dunes.

Thanks for the explenation, Im a tech major, this PWM and Adruino stuff is still new to me.:headwally:

If I purchaced the PWM board the Simon found could I buy a LPF and wire it inline? What kind of LPF would I need?

In theory, I don't know the board though. A LPF is just a resistor and a capacitor. Roberto at RA has a 10K and 10uF in his. He also added another resistor for a voltage divider, because the RA produces a 10V PWM signal, the WP40 requires a 5V signal.

I just ordered one of these for a 40 gallon breeder SPS tank. Right now I have 3 550 gph Koralia pumps running and I want a little more flow and more random flow. I know the WP40 will be quite a bit of flow in this tank but will it be capable of creating enough random flow throughout the tank or should I still use a Koralia at the opposite end of the WP40 to create more turbulence?

This creates to much flow for a 90G without dropping the voltage back. Have it running at 18 volts now and it's perfect. I have 2 at full voltage on a 180G and it's way to much for my LPS's... had to stick them on a wave timer until I get the program for my Arduino running.

this on a 40B is going to be INTENSE

just put it on else & dial it back with a power supply to like 16V and you'll be fine...

Not to mention it is almost 5" long. Would love to see the video of one of these rocking a 40b. Maybe the wave will rock it off the stand :spin3: seriously by a volt reducer. I bought the 5v led dimmer and it works fine but people suggest using the amazon power converter more. To bad amazon, ebay, or the chinese don't sell this with power reduction option.

Love to see how this turns out. :)

Alright, it sounds like I made a bad purchase. I guess I will be selling this when I get it and looking for a different option. I just don't want to spend the money on the high end pumps and I thought with the different modes this would be workable.

I have mine running on my 75 at full power and I feel like I could actually use a bit more flow. That being said, it probably would be a little much for a 40

They are supposed to be coming out with a WP-25 for smaller tanks, but no one can get a release date on it.

Just buy a $12 adjustable power ac adapter and you'll be fine.

You might be fine on an SPS tank in else mode. The only reason I need to dial mine back is because of my LPS and softies. I'm going to put one in a 40B SPS tank.

I did not say that in a bad way just no one has done it. If you get the volts down it might work. :) That is why I said that, good options rather than the jbj set up.

I"m running mine, in "else" mode on a 120. The thing is great. In 24 hours it has quietened down considerably and is rocking the tank. I can get it to splash over on "W1". I'm currently running it in tandem with 2 x Koralia #4 that I intended to take off of the tank but it seems to be working out just fine. Here's a short vid of the pump running by itself right after putting it in the tank. All other pumps, except return, have been unplugged. You can see the patch of cyano that I'm battling right now.

I have a 1 of: JBJ OceanStream Kit - 2 x 1,600 gph + Duo Wave Maker that is about 4 months old I was think of selling since I got the WP-40.

If you are interested PM me.

Nice video. I would check out the algae turf scrubber basics thread under advanced topics for your algae issue. Is the video on W1? Where did you get yours from? Looks like your corals are happy. How are the fish liking it?
