aquamaxx ConeS CO 1 skimmer review

I am planning on upgrading to a 125 with a 55 gallon sump in a few months and want to start assembling equipment before I get the tank. My tank will have LPS and softies and a medium to heavy fish load. I am looking at the CO-1 but was worried it may be too small.

I am leaning towards the CO-1 for the smaller footprint. I like the pump under the skimmer.Do you think I would be ok with the CO-1?

If I go larger would I be better off with the CO-2 or the EM200?

^^^^ The EM200 is on sale at Marine Depot.

Thank you.

Are you talking about the 15% off sale?

I think the CO-1 is also on the 15% off sale list.

Would appreciate any advice on sizing for my future 125g tank from others who have them and are using them.

I just got my skimmer and I am having trouble reattaching the bubble plate after attaching the pump to the bottom of the skimmer. The screws that came with the skimmer are too long and hit the top of the pump before I am able to screw them all the way in.

I think that I may have the wrong screws because unlike the video on Aquamaxx's website indicating how to assemble the skimmer, my screws do not have a slot for a flat head screw driver. I had to take them out by hand and that was not fun.

I have attached a picture of the screws that came with the skimmer.

Are those the correct screws?

I should also mention that the length of the screw is 3 and 3/8th inches.

Turns out that I was provided the wrong screws.

Aquamaxx was fantastic about this. They replied to my email with an hour late in the evening the day before thanksgiving. I was very surprised and pleased by this.

Great Customer Service.

I had the same screw problem I cut roughly 3/8" off the screw and it worked fine.
So far it seems to be working very well.

Just ordered mine from MD with 15% Black Friday discount. Have been running a Bubble Magus Curve 5 on my 46/20 system. Hope this performs better. Can anyone tell me what the minimum sump water level is that won't have splashing from the outlet pipe?

I just ordered one yesturday as well from marine depot with the sale. Along with a bunch of other stuff!! Can't wait. My tank is fallow right now cuz of a ich outbreak a month ago but I'll be settin this skimmer up after another few weeks right before I throw fish in again. I am in the process of setting up a nice QT tank as well.

I think I want to put this one on my 150 gal - Has anyone used it on a tank of this volume? I know it's rated for 175 & some if not most of you have smaller tanks. The foot print & the ease of use is what's selling me right now... & BigAl's price as well + a relatively med bioload (lighter side) in a fowlr

9" I run mine at 8.25" in An Eshopps sump and the water outlet is above the water

I ordered the skimmer from big Al's - + found a 10% coupon made it a no brainier. I appreciate the reviews I've read here. Wish me luck!

One of the big problems with that is you might dumping the cup 3 times a day like when I ran a Euro Reef RS 80 on my 120.

been running mine at 9" with a low bioload on a 50g (4 fish). Not getting much skim. Should I raise it to 9 1/2" or any other suggestions?
