aquamaxx ConeS CO 1 skimmer review

Nice! The aquamaxx is identical.

can you try running it at 9.5? the light diffuser (eggcrate) you have it on can be snipped down by 1/2 inch. I've ran mine at 10 inches and could not fine tune the skimmate to my liking. I run mine now at 9.5 and it is ideal for my set up.

Is that a fluval sea return pump you have in the sump? If so, how do you like it?

Just got word from Marine Depot that my CO-1 has shipped.

Once I get it up and running I'll post back my depth and results... :dance

Hi TiVo,
It isn't sitting on any egg crate currently. The egg crate that you see in the picture belongs to the filter sock compartment of the sump. It's currently running in a depth of 9.7, I think it should be fine:)

I have managed to figure out the problem, played around with the output control a little bit more by tuning it higher!
Will post a picture of the skimmate here in a few days time!

Cheers!

Day 2

Day 2

After cleaning and getting height corrected skimmer hard at work. I love the size of this thing compared to my last skimmer. Easy to adjust already pulled out tea colored skim over night. Super quite too

Is this a good level? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1379727206.847185.jpg

Looks better than mine at day two. Nice! You could thin it out a bit and get more skimmate by tightening the adjustment standpipe or running the skimmer deeper.

The skim will be a little lighter in color if you do that but it depends on what you prefer. If you have a lot of fish then you would want the skim wetter. If you have a lot of sps then a dryer skim would be better IME.

Happy reefing

i would recommend starting at 8"
and see how it responds. It pulls twice the air as the CO 1.

there are several that are running the CO 2 on this thread so I would suggest you PM them to see where they settled.

Thanks for that info. I'm actually running it at 9", maybe a touch higher, but it is performing like a champ after a week.

I have a 75 gal DT with 20 gal sump. Medium bioload 100 lbs LR in display. Do you recommend the CO-1 or CO-2?
Either would work well. The CO 2 would allow you to stock heavier and will aerate the system better. Unless you have space constraints then I would lean towards the CO 2 but you still can't go wrong with the CO 1.

Go co-2!! I have almost the same setup and the co-2 works better than any skimmer I have ever had! I have a medium to heavy bioload. It sits in 9.25" of sump water and I have the gate valve almost 90% open and skimming great!!

Thanks. After I adjust it how long will it take to level out ie 2 hour or days. Right now I adjusted it so the bubbles break 1/5th up the neck. I'm still getting more of the wet skimate. Should I give it a day or two to break in too the new level? I want that heavy dense foam.
