Arlin's 120

Very nice dude. Colours look VERY GOOD considering this was a major changeover.

Got a few questions:

1. What T5 combo are you using on this 8 tube unit? How long are you running the lights?

2. Are you getting an algae on the rocks? I presume you will get minimal because of the pellets.

3. How much GAC are you using?

Many thanks.

Check your PM box......beautiful setup. Love the wrasses. I'm looking to pick up a pair of Romboids soon.

Thanks sahin, everything is doing much better now, its settling down nicely.

The bulbs are all ATI. (front to back)
1-(B+)2-(coral+)3-(B+)4-(purple+)5-(coral+)6-(B+)7-(purple+)8-(B+)
I run them 9hrs in total actinics turn on @4pm ramping up to 60% until 5pm
@5pm-6pm day lights turn on 0-50% then daylight ramp down from 11-1130pm and actinics ramp down from 11pm-12am.

I dont really have any on the rocks or sand..other than your typical cleanining glass every week chore. At first I was running gfo + bp + gfo But after a month or so I started getting some weird slime-ish algae (not red/cyano) but like a brownish kind and it got on some coral and irritated them so I knew I was "over cleaning" ..so I took off gfo completly and slime when away :)

So know just bp's + about 1.5 cups of GAC + filter sock changed every 2-3 days water changes every 10-14days .

Verry nice. .I like the clean set up

Thank you very much.

Thanks. The wrasses are one of my favorite for sure .

Many thanks for the answers. Most helpful.

Keep up the excellent work on the tank. I see colourful future for this tank LOL. :D

T5 are dimmable with an Apex...never knew this. Is this using the VFM module?

DashyLock - I think that the ATI Powermodule that he is using does the dimming, not the Apex.

The tank looks great, terrific colors for anytime let alone right after a move. I have tank envy! Just ordered my own 8 bulb Powermodule, I like to see these great results with them!

Its on the first page on the specs list. Arlin has a Dimmable Sunpower, so no need for controller to do the job.

NeverlosT: You will love the 8 bulb PM. I have an 8 bulb LED PM. Love it! So many tube combos possible... :D

Thanks ! Your absolutely correct the fixture does it all by its self.

Miniature update :)

So my tri-color always looked pale in its brown compare to when I first purchased it and I always wondered if it was under too much light . In my old tank i did not have much choice but to leave it where it was granted it was doing well but I never got the "good dark" coloration that it had when I first got it. The tips where still blue/purple but the brown was allways pale to me.

Tri-color in the 60....@ about 350-400 par

It's only been 4 months but I think it's going to look a lot nicer under Lower lighting .

This is my "10$ Efflo" ;) I saw it at my LFS and I said "for 10$ y not!" Nothing special but I love it .

Hey Arlin. I also prefer my tricolour in lower light. I like it when it gets the blue/green hue with purple tips. I can see in the 2nd photo that yours is now getting the greenish hues. It looks happy and so should colour up nicely in the next few months.

That Efflo looks sweet. I love the growth formation.

Thanks for the quick update.

Happy New Year every one! :celeb1: :celeb3:
