I have seven ATI fixtures. When I bought my first hybrid powermodule ATI claimed exchangeable led clusters to be one of their outstanding features and for me that was a good reason to buy it.
Now I am very displeased to know that my pricey powermodule won't allow any led upgrade. If ATI don't change their policies I will not longer be their customer even if they sell the best fixture in the world. I fell very annoyed and bothered, it is not fair at all.
It is not fair that they sell a product claiming it is upgradeable and one year later they say it is not. What is not fair? Does your light not work now? Is it somehow incapable of growing and coloring up corals now that ATI released a newer cluster? A cluster that really has ZERO benefit to your tank.
My 2010 BMW doesn't have BMWs iDrive technology but I would really like it. Stupid BMW! Why won't you make iDrive retrofit to my car?!? I'll never buy from them again!
I just don't get that line of thinking.
I don't.@ Ryan: I do like your BMW analogy. However, considering a few of the top LED companies are offering upgradable pucks - it's not out of line to wish your fixture was upgradable to the newest puck.
I can see both sides of the fence... just saying.
Me too.All the fuss over LED's I actually just consider the led's a little bonus and bought this fixture for the T5's lol

That was one of their main marketing claims and now it is not true. Therefore they have lied or just changed their policies in a way I don't like at all.
I don't think it is hard to understand my point and as one of their best customers (I highly doubt you'll find many reefers with seven fixtures of that kind) I have the right to complain and be listened by them.
I think LED module should be upgradable. It makes customer happy. AI and Ecotech always consider the customers who use their current products when they release the new ones.
Do they consider the customer or their wallets?
They're a business after all and must make money. Making something "modular/upgradeable" has a major down side as well. When you stick to one design concept, you can't innovate anything because you're stuck with what's already there. Your choices become limited and innovation halts.
EcoTech, AI, ATI and all the other companies have one goal in mind: to make money. Great customer service is a key ingredient for them all but I can promise you if there wasn't a monetary gain to be had, they'd all go do something else.
I am sure about that Ryan. Nevertheless they should do something about it, you can't sell a feature and two years later forget about it. Customers deserve some respect.
I had several issues that still remain (flickering when ramping for example) and have bought four hybrid powermodules after them, so I don't think they are bad fixtures at all. It's only I don't like ATIs policies and customer care in Europe (reported several issues and hadn't prove any solution). By the way, ATIs Europe wrapping sucks, nothing to do with American one.
I understood if the company stick with a design then they cannot innovate the good one. However, the new led module does look the totally new module. Also originally ATI says it would be upgradable, now not. The fixture is not cheap at all, so they should consider something for the current customers.
