ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Thanks Bro,

Seems it was just dim, updated both firmware and software. Seems much smoother operation and preview works much better.

Have also emailed ATI North America to ask for the version logs on the updates. Will share any info here.

Need advice on model for 94" tank

Need advice on model for 94" tank

Hi all,

I bought the crystal clear glass for my home tank a few months ago, at that time I was set on Radion, then off course I changed my mind and I think my latest change of mind is for good now because the project is coming to realization on January. I am running few Radion Pro, Hydra and Hydra 52 for my commercial setup, while I think LED is great it is still not perfect and I think ATI combination of LED and T5 will definitely overcome led limitation...

The tank dimension is 240 x 100 x 65 cm (94 x 39 x 25"), and now I am stuck about which powermodule should I buy? I was thinking about 2 sets of the 36" units but I read on many threads about how 39w T5 being the least efficient design compared to the other design...

So basically I have 3 options and I need advices from you guys which option will work best:

Option 1 (2x75w led + 8x39w T5 / 36") X 2 units
- Pros: The most aesthetically ideal to hang on top of my 94" tank, cheapest to buy option
- Cons: 39w T5 being the least efficient design, might have darker spot on each end of the tank.

Option 2 (1x75w led + 8x24w T5 / 24") X 3 units
- Pros: Aesthetically ideal and will hang nicely on top of 94" tank, very nice/ideal light coverage
- Cons: replacing 24pcs of T5 tubes every 6 months is just plain stupid making it very expensive to run, only running 3 set of led clusters instead of 4 or 6 with the other options.

Option 3 ( 3x75w led + 8x54w T5 / 48" ) x 2 units
- Pros: complete coverage of light end to end
- Cons: Most expensive to buy, the ugliest when hanging on top of 94" tank (with minimal space between fixtures when hanging I will still have at least 1" protrusion of light fixture on each end of the tank not to mention the light spill)

It's like :deadhorse: , no matter which option I choose I will still have compromise, please help me choose which option is the most viable option with the least downer out of the three options...

Thanks in advance guys!!

Number 3 or number 1. No way option 2.

Its a tough one. Option 3 would give complete coverage; but I think you are saying it will overhang and you will have light spill. If it were me, I'd go for this one.

Get a bigger tank :D option 4.... Just know kidding. I agree option 2 is a no go. Option 1 is by far the best. The t5s for the unit are hardly inefficient.

Don't forget the power cord comes out the end so it will be a cord out each end of the tank, otherwise you can't butt them together, which makes option 2 even worse.

Ok so No go for option 2...

Will i really get dark spot with option 1?

As for option 3, after looking at the spec of the actual physical size of the fixture, I realized that it's not 48" long but 47" instead... So basically if I hang the fixture with the inner end against each other I will have the very end of each side of the fixture right where the tank end.. Hmmm apart from the light spill this starting to looks like a good option but I still have a very strong concern over the light spill, I have no experience with ATI fixture, how much light spill will I get with the end of the fixture inline with the end of the tank? I have 3 little kids, I don't want their eyes to get exposed to any light spill at all if it's an intense light where it can actually do harm to their eyes....

Another question, as I specified, my tank is 39" wide... Will i get dark spot on front and back of my tank with 8 T5? Do I need to buy 4 bulb fixtures to give better width coverage? The spec on the website said 36" max width with careful placement of corals and I am 3" beyond that. I am not going to have SPS at the very front of the tank but I hate to see my fish getting no light when they are swimming in front side of the tank begging for food...

Ok, so I pushed the secret combination of buttons posted on page 30, and can not get any special menu or option to change my number of LED clusters to 1. Has the code changed? Any idea on how to do this. I emailed ATI days ago, no responce. Thanks everyone.

Solution found. The newer clusters have a different secret access code, and that's why I couldn't get in. Hold all 4 outer buttons 2 seconds, then up down middle. Hope this helps someone with the 7 LED cluster.

I'm using the 4 bulb on a 30" wide tank. I don't have dark spots

What the heck?? Secret combo? For what?

For entering the secret menu...you can change number of clusters and adjust the speed of the fans...BUT DO NOT mess around with it. Doing so can burn out your fans, causing the fixture to overheat/cause serious malfunction etc; voiding your warranty most likely.

There is a good reason why its a secret option.

Here's mine sorry for the crappy pic photobucket app isn't great

Ab special

Quite happy it's this look now and corals seem to be responding well

Is there a thread any where sharing the following:

1. Tank shot
2. ATI power module in use
3. Tube combination
4. Mounted height above water level / depth of tank
5. Software lighting profile.

Might be a nice reference for us all to use as a reference?

Thanks and happy new year!

I have the ones with the new cluster and had it for 6 months. Yesterday I updated the program to change the timing/color/intensity. The fixture started behaving erratically at the time of color changes. Supposed to be blue but the red was turned on 100% etc ... After cold-reboot it's fixed. Also I noticed it reset the time to 8AM whereas it used to remember the time. As a software developer I must say the software is quite buggy.

So will the upgraded firmwire / desktop software solve these type of problems? I am a little leery about upgrading since the fixture has been working fine other than the problem I just experienced.

Is there a list of what's new/fixed in recent software? I'm running 12-18 month old software and I'm worried about the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" software law.

Thats why I havent updated my firmware or software. My unit works flawlessly so I'm not going to change anything.

This thread is a collection of everything about this fixture, there is the million+ page thread for T5 combo which has been running for YEARS...:eek2:

Just upgraded the desktop software. Erased saved files in the process. So make copies of your config files if you want to keep them. No release note to be found anywhere. From what I can tell it's just upgrade to include the Sirius fixture.

Do you run the T5's only during the peak period or all the time? What about the LED's? I running the T5's only during the peak time but I don't really know why. I would like to hear what other people's schedules like.

I have searched and searched but when I run the software it will not connect with my light. The little light shows a USB connection but no lamp connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
