Ok, question. Tank set up 10/2014. I have had my 24 inch 8 bulb for a few months, and I have slow coral bleaching/pastel. I started at like 65%, and am now backing off to 45%, and feeding my tank twice a day. No noticeable improvement. Coral growth is very slow. Some sps look fine, others less so.
Parameters are stable, and always within reason. 35ppm, 0 nitrates, phosphate detectable, but low enough I rarely clean glass, kh9, Ca 440, MG high at like 1500. I don't run carbon or GFO on this tank, just a fuge w loads of pods, and all top off is kalk. I have also noticed some zoas are growing very small new polyps, like lots of small ones that don't get big. Stylos and birds nests look fine, some acro frags look good, millies are poor to fair. Some stn at bases, others encrusting.
So here is the question.
Is this light so powerful I am wiping out these corals from too much light (8-10 inches above water)
Am I not feeding enough? (5 fish) clown, diamond goby, tail spot blennie, mandarin(eats brine), and tomini.
50 gal cube. I run lights 6 and 8 hours leds never above 30%,
Bulbs b+,c+,actinic,b+,LED,c+,FP,C+,B+.
Go!!!
