ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Yea I did. I'm working with support now hopefully they can find a solution. The good news is their customer support is good. Called the number and right away someone answers. I'll keep you guys updated to what is the solution.

I'll soon be joining the ATI Hybrid club - after a disaster in trying Kessils on my tank (cannot wait to get rid of them)

Now I see a lot of people mentioning the fiddly programming - as I only have a macbook - is it possible to set up basic schedules just via the controller? I.e with no computer interface / connection whatsoever?

I assume they haven't yet / won't be sorting out a Mac OS X compatible program.......

Anyway my 4 x 24 fixture is on back order here in the UK due to high demand - 3 weeks and counting......

It can be done but I'm not sure you will have the time or patience to work through a very complex process using the buttons. It's just not easy. Why not get Parallels and run Windows on your Mac? I hope ATI begins to take us Mac users seriously and comes out with a software we can use.

I'm currently installing Parallels and Windows 8.1 so hopefully that'll resolve that.

Now as I haven't put any money down for this fixture yet - my tank is a 24"L x 18"H x 18"D tank - will the 4 x 24w unit be enough for all types of SPS across all areas of the tank? Read a few posts saying that due to the narrow profile of the 4 tube fixture that some shading's present.

IMO 8 bulbs gives you more options on T5 combos

Wouldn't the LED cluster give more lighting flexibly? I.e tailored to the K rating i want? Surely the 4 bulb would give me even lighting across the entire tank?

The 8 bulb is actually 6cm wider than the tank so that seems silly surely.....

If the light is wider then go with the 4 bulb. I use the T5 as primarily lights and LED only to supplement and for dawn/dusk effect which is how I think this light is built. But you could get enough spread on an 18" wide tank with the 4 bulb unit.

Well i've decided to go all out and go for the 8 tube version - even though it's slightly bigger than the tank.

At least I know i'll get full coverage!

Bring on the PAR:blown::lolspin:

What's a good starter bulb combo to go with? The supplier recommends :

3 x Aqua Blue Special
2 x ATI Blue Plus
1 x ATI Coral Plus
1 x ATI Purple Plus
1 X ATI Actinic

So, just an update on my fixture. My controller was defective, ATI sent me a new one and within 1 day my fixture is fully functional!

Really great customer service. It also helps their repair / distribution facility is 40 minutes from me.

So far I'm really loving the fixture, the software is not as refined as other companies but it works fine, I got a long 15' USB cable that works with the fixture from Amazon that makes updating a breeze.

I love the fact that I have T5s and LEDs, my shimmer is exactly how I want, not too much but it is present which gives the tank a great look that I wanted.

guys,

looking for some imput. Heres my current bulb combo for my 60" 80w x 8 x 4LED's
B+
C+
B+
Actinic
LEDS's
Actinic
Purp+
C+
B+

Feeling like the color is a little washed out and even with playing with the LED's I cant get the look I want. The color is a little blue but mostly white and like I said just looks washed out. I guess im looking for a more 20k look but this is an SPS dom. tank with some LPS and zoas. Anyone have any suggestions to make it look appealing as well as get good growth rates for sps. Thanks

guys,

looking for some imput.
This is my current combo and it's got a really nice white/bright look at midday and bluer look before and after that.
RedSea Actinic
Gies Super Actinic
Gies Aquablue Azure
ATI Coral+
Gies Actinic Blue
Gies Aquablue Azure
ATI ABS
RedSea Actinic

Feel that Coral+ has enough of purple/pink spectrum so you don't really need a purple/pink bulb. Also 2 Coral+ tends to make the tank a bit too pink. If you don't like very blue go with the KZ Super Blue or Gies Actinic Blue instead of the RS Actinic which is a 22k bulb. Then again this is all trial and error till you get the colors you prefer. What may look good to my eyes may not look good to someone else. I have seen tanks with 7 ATI Blue+ and 1 Coral+ that looked really good. But they had supplemental ReefBrite LEDs for that actinic pop.

Here's a FTS at midday with all 8 bulbs on.

That combo with a bit of Royal Blue from the LED's is around 20K.

The problem with "K" setting is that its all subjective. You can try:

3xC+
5xB+
With LED's:
RB-255
B-140
W-100

or
3xC+
3xB+
2xActinic
With LED's:
RB-255
B-155
W-95

With the B+ and Actinic you have Green/Blue/Purple/Violet end of the spectrum pretty much covered. With just two C+ the tank might be a little darker and you may find the non fluorescent colours suffer a little. So, I suggest you setup the LED's as:

RB:255
B:115
W:140
R:20

With those settings and LED intensity at 100%, the white channel will be running at around 55%. So increase it slowly. If you find it's not BLUE enough for your liking, increase the BLUE channel. If its too much light, cut back on the hours or light the light up a couple of inches OR reduce the white channel a little. Most people generally run the White channel around 40-45% peak time. But I know some US retailers run their white channel at 100% and have great colour in the acros.
