would a 60 in ati hybrid cover a 72x36x25 tank just looking for the best coverage for the price auroras are about 400 dollars more and only have 4 t5 lamps

I've seen the ATI Hybrid on a longer tank and I was surprised that it actually had decent spread on each end. I believe it was a 36" fixture on a 48" aquarium.

I have the 48" ATI Hybrid. The footprint of my aquarium is 48" x 30". Even with the 8-bulb I think coverage could be better front to back, unless I raise my fixture up higher than 6" from the top of the aquarium.

Raised up high enough I think it could work, but it's pushing the limits of the fixture in my opinion.

New tank was ordered this weekend. 40x30x20(tall)
Still have not decided: 8x39W ATI Hybrid or Giesemann Spectra.

If going the ATI route, would the below bulb configuration make sense? (Not planning to really use the LEDs for other than to create shimmer and dusk/dawn effects [+ I like the wider fixture VS the T5 only version])

Also, I am really picky in regards to coverage VS light spills.
Given my tanks dimensions, I hope and assume I could raise the 34x20 ATI in order to get good coverage front-back and side-side without spilling over either?

I like it and especially like your upcoming tank. I MIGHT order 2 extra Blue+ and use the blue LED's to replace the actinics. Of course that is unless you have mainly lower light corals as your plan.

I'm considering a ATI 36" 4x39s with dual 75W leds for my 36x18x21 58g tank (Mixed but SPS dominated). Does this sound like the best option? I'm thinking an 8x39 would be overkill.
I plan on going with 2 Coral+, 2 blue+

Few other questions:
Has anyone switched from one of the other hybrids (HYPERION, etc.)?

Why is this unit 'better' or what are the key advantages of the ATI unit?

What are the optics on the leds?

Not much talk about a hybrid with a 4 lamp combo. About to pull the trigger on a 4x24 LED Powermodule to replace my Mitras (damn shadowing!). What T5 combo would be a good starting point? Thanks Reefers

so I decided to add anothr 2x tubes to the side of my unit, making it effectivley 6x39w in order to get the spread. (couldnt fit the 8x39)

Tank looks reddish white but funnily enough i quite like it.

Is this combo om or will i be harming corals

Mark, I was thinking of replacing my Mitras with an 8x24 power module. I have 4 24 watt t5 supplementing my Mitras right now. If this doesn't work I have to figure out a way to tell the wife I need to take a huge loss selling the lighting I have and getting a power module.

ATI Powermodule arriving today... How acclimate tank?

my 36" 4x39W powermodule is arriving today along with two ATI Coral+, and Blue+ bulbs.

What is the best way to assimilate my tank to these lights?

I'll probably hang it 8-10" above the water and wait the 50 hours to be able to dim the T5s. Other than that what else should I be considering? I'm think I should run the LEDs 20-30% at most to start. Anything else I should consider?

I'm currently running MaxSpect Mazzaro-s Leds. light schedule: 11AM W:0, B:1% : 1PM W:40 B:60% : 6:30PM W:50% B:70% : 11:3OPM W:0, B:1%

My tank is 58g - 36x18x21.

What do you think your aquascape will look like? If your aquascape is going to be 3" - 6" off the glass then your don't really need to light the "whole" tank.

I've got an 8 bulb hybrid on a 66x30x27.5 deep and it is bright! I think on yours will be good. Mine is all sps and too bright for pretty much lps I've tried.

I think if I go this route really the only thing I would miss on the LED fixture is the nighttime viewing with the Blue LEDs only running. My question is - will an ATI Actinic bulb replace the Blue LEDs well for nighttime viewing? So will the corals fluoresce at night with the Actinic bulb as they do with the Blue LEDs? I understand I won't have shimmer.

ATI Actinic is fine for dusk/dawn effects but not for a moonlight. It would be too bright.

I have an 8 x 24 Powermodule that is currently only firing the four middle bulbs. The two on each end are not lighting at all. Before I start taking it apart, any thoughts on what to look at first?

I've been going through Big E's Thread. He has only 4 T5s and incredible colors BUT his lights are on only 9 hours or so a day. I noticed in my tank that my corals didn't like 14 hours of light even though the LEDs were only set to 40% power. So, makes me think that too much duration is bad and that is probably more important than intensity once you have the basic intensity covered and obviously all you need for that is 4 T5 bulbs. In your case I don't think the 2 spikes is a problem so long as the total time the lights are on is less than 10 hours since you are high pretty much all the time if you spike LED first then T5 second and spike LED third.

I changed again last week. I was really impressed by Big Ed's thread:

He is having great success at reds and growing red corals is my current "Holy Grail" goal so I figured I'd try his combo for 6 weeks and see if I notice a difference. That means now I'm using Blue+ and Coral + in a 50/50 combo. It's much brighter so I also raised my lights higher. They are up to about 10 inches above the water line now.

Here's Big Ed's tank and some corals of his. Keep in mind he only has 4 T5 bulbs over a 90 gallon tank. 4 bulbs!! That's it!! Unbelievable . . .

I too would like to hear your feedback. Currently my LED's are on for full photoperiod.

I have been running your setup but with slightly less intensity and time and seeing good results so far.

I'm not sure if I posted this earlier, but I cut the LED intensity in half at the peak to see if I could get the Bonsai to start to regain purple. So far I have not detected any change in my Bonsai. My other corals still seem to like the higher light, especially the yellows and pinks.

But . . .

I took some shots of my Carolinia that was turning white, and I'm going to compare week to week because it looks to me as if it is starting to lose white and regrow green zoox. If that is true, then I think I will go back to LED only for dawn/dusk but right now I'm sticking with my LED peak lighting experiment.

If you are trying the same, I hope you will share your experiences as well!!
