I bought 2 Powermodules. Both failed within the first 2 years. I fixed the first one myself, and I am hoping I can fix the second myself as well. For a $2000 unit I am extremely disappointed in the reliability, but the results and ease of control as regards the dimming and the LEDs are simply not available in any other fixture. Conversely I have a Hamilton fixture I keep over my frag tank. It is caked with salt creep and is over a decade old and has never had a single problem but then the electronics are all remote, it's not dimmable, and it generates a ton of heat. Also, I have a dimmable Sunpower made by ATI that I dropped into the tank and it still works fine and has never had a hiccup. My guess is the LEDs produce damaging amounts of heat that is not adequately compensated for in a fixture that is too tight.
Keith -
Not sure how often you check this forum, and I will certainly call tomorrow, but i was planning on working on my fixture today when I realized that unlike my previous problem last November, I have 4 lamps not working (the 4 on the inside).
Does this mean I need 2 ballasts? What should I do to trouble shoot? If it is the ballast, does ATI still sell ballasts for my generation of Powermodules?
Thanks.
Joe
P.S. For everyone else I have been running the fixture with only the 4 outer lamps for about 9 months and my corals still look fabulous not to mention the bulbs are almost 2 years old now (yes - I tried new lamps in the slots that are not working) so long story short 99% of the time the fixtures we have provide more than adequate light.
Joe,
Glad to finally see another post from youHope you are doing well.
IIRC you ran the spectra, then tried the pacsun hybrid and now obviously the ATI hybrid. How would you compare the two hybrid fixtures?
(I am running the pacsun myself (8xT5/145W LED) It is great, but the fan noise alone makes me regret not going for the spectra tbh...)
Hello Joe,
I try to stay on top of these threads, but not over the weekend.
This would be best to troubleshoot via a support ticket, please shoot us an email at customercare@ our domain (the North America domain).
We DO still have all the parts available for all versions of Powermodules.
Regarding reliability. I actually deal with very few issues with the LED Powermodule, however perhaps people do not know we are available to help?
Also the fixtures are very repairable. Parts are available and we are here to help troubleshoot.
I just plugged my 39w 8 bulb hybrid in and it took nearly 45 seconds for the light to come on. Is this normal?
Does anyone have a program they really like and would care to share?
That makes sense Keith
Anyone have a 3 LED 8x54w program they would like to share?

Are these hybrids reliable now?
Thanks Keith. I don't have a Wi-Fi unit. Not sure if it matters.
What's the email?

I just received the white WiFi 60' Powermodule Hybrid (merry xmas to me) and thought I'd share my experiences -
I ordered it through a local retailer (Australia) so it was shipped from Germany to the store and then on to me. It arrived well packed and in good condition, just one or two minor issues. A slightly pushed in vent grate which was easily bent back out. One of the reflectors has a tiny ding in it but I suspect not even enough to notice it when the light is on. Not bad for all the transit.
Now for my idiot moment - I don't have a Windows device. Didn't even think of it after researching the light for months. I think I just assumed that I could program it through the control box/ballast/power unit and at some point get a compatible device. Unfortunately there's no screen or controls on the box anymore because, duh, Wi-Fi. Tried to run a windows emulator on the mac to run Light Studio but to no avail. Looks like like I need a new device unless someone else has an awesome work around.
None of that is ATIs fault of course (except the picture of a Macbook running Light Studio on the ATI Aquaristic Site - confusing). It's heavy, well built and looks amazing.
I would like the quick start guide if it will let me connect from my Mac. Thanks!
