Atomic081's 225 Gallon Reef w/ Basement Fish Room

Yes, its the outside diameter, fits perfectly in there.

you can see the drilled holes in the bottom, i also added an extender to bring it to the overflow but you won't need it since it's draining back into the sump.

Update on the skimmer, I didnt have a 1 1/4 T but i had a 90 laying around. So i drilled a few holes to allow for airflow and now the skimmer is super quiet.

I can't believe how much work you've gotten done in a month. Everything is coming together nicely. Keep up the good work man!

Looking great.. Nice use of the 90.. Have you thought about your aquascape?

Its funny that you ask! Im gonna sit down tonight and try to layout a general gameplan for the aquascape. I know im going to have 2 Islands with the left one being bigger with a cave through the middle and the right one close enough that it creates a dark valley between the two. Overall though it will be a minimalist aquascape. Lots of room for Fish and room for corals to grow!!! I have over 300 lbs of liverock in the sump to work with and Im going to try and get started later this week!!!

Well i got the tank plumbing all hooked up and i was finally able to turn on the ball valve to upstairs..........but nothing happened. So i turned off the feed to the frag tank, Refugium and the other equipment and Finally i had some water moving up to the tank.

So i think my Reeflo Dart is to small. 12 ft of head with a 1 1/4 line and it feeds all the other tanks and equipment. Im gonna do research for a new pump. :hmm4:

It def seems like you are at more then 12ft of head. At least you have some water in the tank. A slow start is better then no start.

I measured today and its right at 12 ft and the pump works great when feeding just the tank. But with the frag tank refugium calcium reactor uv filter and 2 other reactors it not gonna feed the tank.

We have Sand and Water!!!! I also hung the Reefbreeders 16" photons and mounted another DJ power strip for upstairs.

For now I just have a Heater and powerhead in the tank. I only have 2 55 gal drums so it might take a few more days to mix up enough water to fill the tank completely.

Congrats on getting it wet! I forgot is this going straight down or out the back to the other room? I don't remember openings being cut.

very interested to see how these lights look on this size tank. i considered them couple months back. so ill be looking for updates sir. lol...

I have 90 and 120 optics for the lights. Not sure what ones im gonna use. I might get the par meter from my club and test them out.

Atomic bought the setup from me, and it looks like he has corrected all my screw ups! Lol
As far as the lights I was more than happy with their strength. I was able to run the lights at a max of 50% and my corals on the rock and the sand all showed good growth.

Build is going great! Almost as impressive as the redo of the house

Very good Reads for anyone wanting to aquascape a tank!!!!

Now to my tank!! Please Vote 1, 2, 3, or State what you would change. As of now I only have the pvc skeleton but you might be able to see what I'm trying to achieve. I want atleast 1 Cave and plenty of room for coral and Fish to swim. Im not sure if i need to tone the pvc down a bit yet cause this is my first time using this method.

2.

3.

Thanks for the Input!!!!

I like 3. I think then jut out on the single arm would lend itself for some amazing coral placement. Plus if you leave it high off the bottom the fish would love the overhang to swim under
