automatic water change

dread240 I think you got a strong pair from the bunch.

I haven't time mine yet, because I want to do it with the new tubing, but when I ran it yesterday with rps3 it was not even a smooth trickle.

It kind of spurted out when the head passed by.

Steve- even the Stenner is not a continuous stream but bursts of flow. Ide say every 1.5 seconds or so. You can see that in my video.

I just looked at your video again and what you are putting out (even though it in spurts) is still more then what I got out of mine yesterday.

I hope the new tubing makes a big difference.

I'll get video up once I get the new tubing.

were you anywhere remotely close to a full gallon in 8 minutes?

I'm not trying to discredit you, it's more for my knowledge with how you're saying how quiet it is, because by rough calculations at the speed you were turning with that current you should have only seen roughly .3-.4 gallons in that time frame that mine will push a full gallon. It gives me good hope that once I slow this thing down a bit she'll be nice and quiet.\

Ideally I'm trying to get mine down to about 10% speed, which will give me round about 25rpm on the pumpheads, and allow me to do longer slower water changes throughout the day. Right now I run for 8 minutes while I'm at work and that's it, one shot and it's done.

I did not run a timer on it or a gallon through it. I may have enough tubing here to reach into a gallon jug. Im pulling my spare gear drive apart to see if there is any improvement to be made. After placing the motor onto some shipping mat that I had all you can hear is a slight wurrr of the gears. Ill dig around in storage tomorrow to see if I dont have anything with more amps. Might even be able to play with the gearing to make it need less grunt.

The gear system is very simple. Motor still won't start without help with none of the gears hooked up.

if that motor won't start with no load on it whatsoever I would be looking at bearings or brushes (I'm not sure if these are brushless motors or not)

tickle does your motor spin really easily by hand (spinning the one planetary gear on the motor itself)

I took my spare apart that i've never ran yet, but it spins incredibly easy, and I had a ton of grease packed in my housing on one corner to lube the gears

Yup I can spin it and itll even continue to spin some to a degree. I oiled it all up and have it running now to work it all in.

It could also be having an issue with the rotor or stator as well too of the motor. I'm going to sacrifice my other to get some test readings.

I don't do much work on motors... I kinda do the opposite of motors... I spin things to make power, but it's all the same setups :)

Its been a long time since ive rebuilt a motor. I believe these are not brushless. Brushless motors were just becoming big into the rc scene when I quit it, and these look nothing like that. It begins to spin then stops and starts repeat.

Hmmm I believe it has something to do with the way this power supply dleivers the power. Ill have to just flat out buy one. I can hear the power supply almost bee in a similar fashion that tge motor trys to spin. My volt meter is outside and its -12° so ill test it tomorrow and see if its not constant current

I know this will sound like a stupid question, but i KNOW the human body cant tolerate -12 for longer than minutes. You guys literally risk your lives every time you leave the house?? Im sure you dress for it, but comoooon man.

It can handle it no problem. The other motning on my way to work it was -23 without windchill. I work outside typically from 4 am to about 8 or 9 pm. Im not dead yet. Good pair of long johns a cheap $10 coat gloves boots and a stocking cap

God. I can't imagine being in that weather.
I lived in NY until I was 13 and don't even want to go back to that weather.
I guess I've been in S. FL for to long.
It's currently 71° here, a little overcast and light rain.

I got the softer tubing, the same stuff dread240 is using and it still will not start without assistance. I think it may loosen up once the tubing conforms to the radius of the heads. I've got it running for a bit and we'll see what happens. I hope rsp3 has better luck.
