automatic water change

Got some hose from Steve and installed them. At 12v 1.5a it doesn't turn without help from me. I'm going to go with Steve and say this hose is too stiff. Even with one head it has problems rolling.

I'm just going to go with Santoprene tubing. If BRS and Stenner can use them and be ok, I'm going to go with it. I haven't heard too many stories of BRS doser tubes going bad, once in a while they have to be replaced.

My only worry is the high speed with the santoprene tubing. I'm hoping to get my pwm speed controller here soon. That may actually let you get by with a little less too thanks to the lower continous amperage draw

I actually hooked some RO tubing to it today while Eric was here today and it pushed water, but didn't seem that fast.

I realized when my pump was running, it seemed like my set up was running quicker. That or my imagination got the best of me.

Mine are loud, but they will hopefully only need to run a few minutes a day and they will be in the laundry room.

my garage is detached and 50ft from my house :(

not to mention the lines freezing during this time of the year.... yea once again... screw you guys

Yeah, but the summers down here are unbearable, and I need to run a chiller just to keep the tank at a decent temp.

just looking forward to my pwm controller showing up here hopefully this week. Get this thing quiet, down to about 25rpm (actually fully adjustable for whatever I would need) and it would outperform a stenner for a fraction of a price :-P

I accept that challenge:cool::thumbsup:

gonna have to take some video and upload it though once that's there. You'll see my cluster on the right side of my tank lol

I hate you because yours is working flawlessly. Videos!!! Steve is ordering the santoprene tubing so once that comes in we should be good. Maybe it will quiet down since it won't have to work as hard to get the ball rolling.

Anyone else using different hose or have theirs up and running?

I was looking earlier, my power adapter is an old old old old buck puck, so it's probably capable of over 1A and why mine hasn't been problematic. But yea mine starts and runs fine with it.

I ordered Beverage, Food, and Dairy Clear Tygon PVC Tubing (Shore A66).
What dread240 got was Laboratory Clear Tygon PVC Tubing(Shore A56).

The Durable Norprene Rubber Tubing that we have now is (Shore A61).

I will call and change it in the morning.

Update: They actually have someone there 24 hours a day so I just made the change to the order and it will ship in the morning.

It takes 4 minutes and 30 seconds to pump 20 oz @ 5 volts. The wall plug I had only does 1.5 A and like said in some other posts that is not enough to spin this. Also on a side note mine is very quiet. Not dead silent but acceptable.

it's silent because it's running slow. You're nowhere near the 200rpm the motor should be running at with 12v and acceptable amperage.

Lower voltage isn't a very good bandaid for it either, as that increases the current even further. That's why I'm going with the pwm controller. Soon as I get it here though I'll let you guys know how well it works. Was only $6.99 shipped off ebay :)

were you anywhere remotely close to a full gallon in 8 minutes?

I'm not trying to discredit you, it's more for my knowledge with how you're saying how quiet it is, because by rough calculations at the speed you were turning with that current you should have only seen roughly .3-.4 gallons in that time frame that mine will push a full gallon. It gives me good hope that once I slow this thing down a bit she'll be nice and quiet.\

Ideally I'm trying to get mine down to about 10% speed, which will give me round about 25rpm on the pumpheads, and allow me to do longer slower water changes throughout the day. Right now I run for 8 minutes while I'm at work and that's it, one shot and it's done.
