Awais' 120g Build

My sump has 3 chambers as well. I have the heaters in the center and temp probe in the return area. Kind of close but I also have a thermometer in the display and it stays consistent there too so I'm happy with it.
I will try diffferent combinations and see how it works out.
Seems like now since ysterday the weather is little better, so the tank is holding good temp, even withou the new heater.

My dosers drip in the return section. I use mine for cal and Alk and I need to get one for mag but I have thought about using them for auto waterchange but I don't know how fast those are and what your total water volume is
I already have an ATO with a floatt switch and a seperate ATO pump working. i wasnt going to haul 5 gallon from day one. No way.
My total water volume is 200g.
Besides these dosing pumps would not be able to last too long if I use it for 5g everyday. They have several hundred hours of life...with alk/cal/mag theyll last few years.

Good work. What sides are we looking at in the last picture? I can't figure out what purpose those cross members serve.

Some updates on the canopy:

I reduced the height to 16" from 20". That much was enough to hand the LEDs and they would still be 6-8 inches above water

Got some fluted trims and rosette blocks. It looks little better.
Enjoy the pics.
Comments. Esp would love to hear from people who do a lot of wood work.
Im doing this first time...

Next wuld be to cut 2 door openings, and make 2 doors from scratch. LOL. Im enjoying doing this DIY stuff... that is, when I get time to do it, LOL

My Latest water parameters:
NH4:0/ NO3: 0/ NO2: 0/ PO4: 0, despite ghost feeding the tank...
Ph 8.4/dKH 7.8/Cal: 430/Mg 1680...

I double checked the mag and did it the right way, red sea kit, and it is still high, but i understand it wouldnt harm the eventual corals, so let it be.
I have yet to check the fresh saltwater mix from that topfin salt... Ill get there one day soon, if that is the reason for high mag

I also got another titaniaum 800 heater and water now stays stable at about 77-78
So my 2 clowns went in the DT 2 days ago!! without any signs of distress/mortality. They are eating too.:fun4:

I will hopefull be getting some corals soon, after that freakin canopy is hanging w the LEDs!

You were looking at the front of the canopy...i reduced the height later on, see new pics.
Those cross memebrs are for holding the L bracket for the LEDs as kegokut rightly pointed out:jester:

I purchased my doors here

Much easier than building them.

Yea dunno if you looked for them yet but better late than never!
You can get this at Lowes in 6ft and 10ft sections. its 1/2" x 1/2" or 1/4" x 1/2". Either way it works great.

Thanks for the pics! it was over due!! hahahahIt looks neat.

I got similar stuff, just slotted predrilled, L 1"x1".

Also I see that you have scrwed the LEDs to the bracket?
On my LEDs the 3 fans runs in the center left to right, so I doubt if Id be able to screw it flush., to keep it well ventilated.

Thanks Dave

I JUST noticed that you have 2 of those L brackets! and you screwed them on the edges of the LEDs, mmmmm.

My plan is to have 1 central L bracket and then tie the hanging wire over it, so if I want to slide the LEDs, i could still slide it, without removing anything..

Thanks Dave

Some more work done today:

Built 2 doors, ( pics are presanded doors)

Was fun using the router first time EVER in life!!!
Not perfect job, but I think I can be happy with what I did, first time.

Thanks Dave, I hope the same:fun4:

The stand is black in color, and Im planning to color the canopy black too, wondering if im going to color the trims black too, or should I change it to give it a high light. Wife says no, the main attraction is the DT not the stand/canopy. I think i agree with her...

They look good Awais. I cant wait until I see it all done. Im sure its going to be amazing.

sump bubble in return section

sump bubble in return section

earlier i had this issue, and i just kept the water level high in the return section.
Seems like that freaking NEW tom ato pump is not able to keep up, its a brand new pump and it just have to lift water maybe 3 feet and it cant keep up!!!!
Ill get that pump changed to a maxijet 1200, a new one

And I also removed the 3rd baffle from the sump on the return side, now water enters that compartment from below, no chance for bubble:dance:

I wonder why do we even use 3 glass baffle, counter intuitive.
