Awesome Trick for Working With Vinyl Tubing

Saw this on youtube a month or two back. Tried it last night when changing configuration.

Vinyl tubing in bulk comes on those large spools and it can take a "set" in a fairly curved configuration, which makes it hard to work with. This is particularly true with the larger-diameter tubing.

Trick: put it in the dryer for ten or fifteen minutes on medium heat. The heat will "release" the set and fairly well straighten out the tubing. Makes it real easy to slip over hose barbs, too.

I use a similar method for flex pvc... shove it in the oven for 10-15 mins with temps set to 150-175 degrees. :)

To get the tubing tightly over a barb heating the end in boiling water for a moment allows the tubing to stretch.

True, and i've done that for years. But putting the whole thing in dryer (or perhaps over) straightens the whole sucker out, and the ability to push over bard lasted much longer than the boiling water approach
