Back by popular demand: SCMAS/Marine Depot "Scratch n Dent" Sale on 6/28/08 (Part 2)

Where is the so-called "list" anyway?

Is there a way that us, your common reefers, could have access to it???

There is no list this time...................only last time there was a list

Thanks!

last time I was given a partial stock list in a meeting prior to the event. There was no meeting prior to this event so all new additions will be a suprise to me.

There are CA reactors, small & large chillers, a half dozen RO/DI units available. Over 20 MH bulbs were added today, all tested except, the brand new ones. Another dozen or so assorted other items were also added today. More will be added tomorrow including some more PC and VHO bulbs.

I think I'll check this out after I get rid of a bunch of old TV's, VCR's and junk at the e-waste dump.

I need some salt, do you know if there were any different brands other than Tropic Marin?

I have a little gripe to make about last time.

I picked up a spider light reflector... Just the reflector, no mogul, no mounting, just the sheet of reflective material. I was charged about $40 for it. I thought that it was a bit much at the time, but figured that you guys knew more about it than I did.

When I got home I looked it up on the site and saw that they were basing the price off of the FULL setup, not the reflector only.

I got good deals on everything else, so in the end it was kind of a wash. I'm still a little PO'd though.

Will still be back tomorrow though. Need some bulbs and what not.

The only tunze product left from last time was a single controller. Unless they added more tunze stuff, that'll be it. I was looking for a wavebox last time, but they didn't have any.....

That was the only reason i was going to go last time. I will try and make it tomorrow. Hopefully i find a wad of cash or something on the street :D

I need some new bulbs.

Ouch man. This almost happened to me.. I picked up this ____ and asked how much. Guy looks at his list and says $__ I said um, okay, so I didn't buy it. I knew that was the retail price, not the discounted price. I know all MD's price by heart because I read their catalog everyday in the bathroom... at work and at home. It's like a bible for me lol.

Anyways, I guess my point is.. take an MD catalog with you. Grab an item and use it for "quick reference". Just a humble suggestion.

Yeah you have to be careful... I bought a Remora Aquac HOB skimmer and when I asked a guy to look up the price there was like 5 versions and he was basing the price off the more expensive one with the drain fitting and pump... But in the end when I went to the cashier, the guy was cool and we went through it and decided it was the base unit no drain plug and no pump..

Also just a note* INSPECT THE ITEM! I ALMOST purchased a skimmer that was all packed up figuring this one was in a box and was brand new... On my way to the cashier I opened it up just to check it out and the collection cup was SHATTERED (and I think the top of the actual skimmer was too) :eek1: So I went back and got another one and ended up buying a couple other things on my way back :D

All in all I WILL be back tomorrow for some more great deals!

Wow... I was looking at a clip-on fan at the first sale and when I went to the register, they told me it would be $___(after discount)
Luckily I didn't buy it.

I went online and the retail (new) is half the price of what they wanted me to pay for one that had some minor issues.
I will definately pick up a catalog this time.
