Bean's 300 Gallon AGE Build

I didn't get this at RAP but it's my favorite rock nem. The disc is gold with green and purple streaks.

My tank has been on the back burner for quite some time. But I'm ready to take it more seriously now. I'm old I've been working on my yard and taking care of some other priorities.

My tank has been running about 7.5 dkh, 420 cal, and 1500 mag. I've had the cal rx off and have been dosing approx 30 mls per day of Brightwell Parts A and B. I dose 30 mls of Brightwell Replenish Trace per week.

The goal is to bring the cal rx on line again soon. I'm just pushing water through the cal rx with the Kamoer peri pump. I did not want it running while I was on my break if that's what it was.

I had some really ugly brown algae on my sand bed for a few months but purchased a ton of conchs and snails a month or so ago and it's already looking better. No algae on my rockwork at all and covered in coraline finally.

^^^ Not sure what happened to the post above. Shows on tapatalk.

I had some really ugly brown algae on my sand bed for months. I finally purchased some cleanup crew mainly conchs and snails a month or so ago and the sand bed is already looking better. I'm going to start siphoning it during water changes. Its only an inch or so thick. There is no algae on my rockwork at all and covered in coralline. I'm having a bit of trouble keeping the nutrients up so far. The corals I have look happy so that is a start. I'll slowly build the collection back its just going to take some time.

I meant to say pulling water through the CalRx not pushing. It was late and I was waiting for my Trident to finish calibrating.

how is Trident so far?

It works well thus far for me. No issues. I have forgotten to replace the reagents for a week or more but the unit remained consistent and accurate in the measurements once I replaced and recalibrated. I did hear that people were saying they had to be rebuilt if you let the lines dry out for too long, but for me that hasn't been the case. They did announce this past weekend that 6 month reagent packs are now $99 which is awesome. So $200 per year. Its not for everyone but it really is nice piece of mind. Its easy to setup. It takes a little time to replace the reagent bottles, but not that long. The tasks are easy to follow. I don't have any interest in automating it with dosing or my calrx. I like it strictly to check my parameters anywhere. It was approx. .5 dkh off of my salifert alk kit, but consistently.

I would like to try the Xepta aBex when its available. Also the Minstream LOL I may have to hit the lottery though. They all seem like great products, but work in different ways so it would be interesting to see what ends up being better in the long run. If they all work as described, it would give reefers so many options for automated testing.

I got a few things. Mostly zoas courtesy of Jose Rob Josh Will and Nessy. A nice st Thomas also from Jose. A large crown leather purple base green polyps. A large dragon should favia. A nice little maxima from Clam Mania. Green Capnella from Unique. A sick Goni from VW reefs. A green slimmer from Dipan. A few cool corals from Mike G. But my favorite is the Sonic the Hedgehog from Dynasty Corals.

They look nice! Which on is the sonic hedgehog? You dip everything you get?

I tried a hydrogen peroxide dip for the first time on 4 zoa frag I noticed some algae on. ****ed them off. Maybe killed them [emoji52]

The zoas and sticks were dipped in Coral RX. I didn't dip the softies and the LPS.

**the third picture above is the Sonic the Hedgehog Galaxea. It's really bright. Cool piece just need to give it some room as it grows.

How much hydrogen peroxide did you use? I've done half and half many times for 5 minutes or so and never had a problem. I'm not worried about hair algae with all my tangs.

I used 3% not diluted for 2 minuets. First time using it... maybe last time lol.

The algae looked like briopsis. Algae is gone. Corals are still closed though.

Yeah finally!

I got some of these frag grippers from VCA. They work awesome and no glue, rubber bands, or fishing line necessary.
